His gleevec was treating his Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia for almost 6 years and then it stopped working. He could never tweak the proper dosage of Sprysel. The Sprysel would seem to destroy the red cells.
My dad went into the hospital in late April only to learn that he had to go through chemo to survive his leukemia.
Even with the Chemo, he was given a 70% chance of forcing his leukemia into remission. Apparently during the weekend when he first went into the hospital, his CML went directly into a blast crises.
The chemo worked, but it left him immunosuppressed. The official cause of death was Sepsis.
As I said before, I felt that I was given the opportunities to tell him how much I loved him and appreciated him.
