Some info about the Bong recreation area.
It was named after USAAF ace Richard I. Bong, the top American ace in WWII and Medal of Honor recipient. The area was intended to become The Bong Air Force Base, but it was never completed. It is a large park with hunting, RC model flying field, a beach and other activities.
So that is the sign I see as I cross the state line into WI? Thanks, for the additional information.
