My son lives in a neighborhood in Toronto in which all the streets have “Oriental Monarchs” names: Ranee, Rajah, Khedive, Sultana, etc. Who wants to live on Caliph Street?
Surprisingly there are few Muslims in this neighborhood, but it is heavily Jewish.
One would think there would be a mechanism for homeowners to have their street names changed, if a solid majority wanted to. I’m sure there is in every street-naming jurisdiction in the US.
There’s a street not far from me in Etobicoke that always gives me the willies when I ride past it- Mosque Crescent.
