MIAMI - Former cult leader Yahweh Ben Yahweh, who was linked to nearly two dozen gruesome killings in the 1980s and said to have ordered victims' ears cut off as proof they were killed, has died, his attorney said Tuesday. He was 71.
Yahweh, who had been fighting prostate cancer, died in his sleep Monday night, attorney Jayne Weintraub said.
The self-proclaimed "Black Messiah'' founded the Nation of Yahweh and preached religious separatism for blacks. At the group's height, it claimed thousands of followers in Miami and elsewhere.

Guess the “messiah” couldn’t even heal himself. Think he’ll have a “warm” reception where he’s going.
I remember this guy from the infomercials at 5 AM Sunday morning. It was a hoot the way his followers would deliberately take Biblical verses completely out of context and make them say these utterly bizarre things. The whole production was so over-the-top and surreal.
And then of course they claimed that he was a political prisoner who was forbidden to have contact with the outside world. Of course, nobody mentioned the accusation.
But will it get rid of the stupid infomercial things where they annunciate word to the extreme and ask me to look up words in the dictionary?

I remember this a-shole! Beloved by local Dems as a source of votes. I believe Janet Reno sang his praises when she was State’s Attorney down there.
