Prayer Request for my unborn baby [update at #198]

I have been a freerepublic member for a long time and usually lurk but tonight I find myself in need of your prayers for my unborn son.

During a routine ultrasound at 20 weeks gestation, it appears my little boy's stomach is on his right side rather than his left. The doctor could not give us any more information and is having us see a doctor at the hospital where they have more high tech equipment.

Please pray for this little baby, that all will be well. I have no doubt in the power of prayer. Thank you

You're in my prayers and my families....now, I could be wrong, but the placement of his organs may not neccessarily be bad news. If I recall correctly, a small portion of the population is born with organs in differing places from the norm, and most are fine, healthy people. In fact there's a condition where some people are born with most of their internal organs switched from left to right. Very few of them, but again, this isn't neccessarily a life or health threatening issue. The organs are healthy, just in a different place. In my own family, on my mothers side, there's a number of people with the appendix on the opposite of where it normally is. In my grandmother, they found this out during exploritory surgery for some pain.

After our last trauma with anomolus but benign results from ultrasound, I am less and less convinced that it has any therapeautic value. If your child's condition is detrimental, what can they do, offend you with abortion advice? If your child's condition is benign then you have suffered for absolutely no reason. If the Lord blesses us with a next time (we have eight) then I will advise my wife to reject the ultrasound treat.

Your precious baby will be in my prayers. Try not to worry too much. I have a cousin who was born with several of her organs reversed. They rushed her to a "big city" hospital and performed surgery on her. The doctors said it would be a miracle if she lived to be 5 yrs old. She is now over 40 yrs old and was very active in horse back riding and cheerleading in high school. She owns a company and is the owner/boss of about 20 men. She seems to be completely normal in every way and hasn't had any major health problems other than the terrifying scare at birth. I hope your son will be as blessed.
