In a perfect world, an owner of a private business should be allowed to conduct that business as he or she sees fit. However, the government has decided that such accommodations are public and subject to various mandates, from prohibitions on smoking to outlawing discrimination in both hiring and service. Many all male buisnesses have been forced to allow women, while at the same time female only health clubs spring up across the land. When the government allows such unequal treatment it is not eliminating discrimination but simply creating new ones, and perpetuating them by law.

I agree, it is unfortunate - but true.
I wouldn't think this would be a problem unless all of the other rooms were full, and I was denied accommodations altogether solely because I am male.
