‘I’ll tell you why! No one wants to go to jail for the likes of these people.’

Hmmm, proper planning would limit that possibility, and I’ve found that emotions are so raw at funerals that ‘going to jail’ in reaction to something so ugly its surprising it has not happened yet (these idiots getting a butt kicking).

The reason why is that first of all, he always demands protection from the cities and the police wherever he goes. And then secondly, he makes a point of suing and they get money from things like this. So, he would immensely enjoy being attacked, so he could collect millions of dollars from lawsuits (from both cities, police forces and the attackers). I think they actually make a living off lawsuits like this. They have won other lawsuits like this.

Star Traveler

Poor planning.

‘Whoever did would be considered a hero by both sides, ironically enough.’

Whoever did would have a large measure of personal satisfaction.

Yup, you won't hear it in the media, but Phelps is a liberal and was a big Gore supporter.

Well, the fact of the matter is that neither the left nor the right will claim him. Neither one wants anything to do with him. So, it's disingenuous to say that he's left or right, actually. He's in a dimension all to himself.

You might want to check out this link. Incidently, the fact that the left doesn't want to be associated with him has no bearing on Phelp's political leanings.

"WBC will preach at the memorial service of the corpulent false prophet Jerry Falwell, who spent his entire life prophesying lies and false doctrines like 'God loves everyone,'"

Wow. They sound like they could be Dummies.

Oh wait a minute . . .

They are

Thanks! Wow, amazing! but...

In the meantime I did a little search too, and it turns out Phelps picketed Gore’s father’s funeral, and even went to Baghdad to protest anal sex and the Clintons (I know, so easy to lump together I guess!), so I guess the liberal love affair for Phelps was over in the 90s.

The ACLU still defends this scum, however. So I think we can still claim them libs.

According to Einstein, the universe is an expanding globe. So if you went far enough “left” you would end up on the “right” and vice versa.........

Isn’t it sad when 1st cousins marry?..........

Well, the "first cousins" thing is off topic, but since you bring it up, I'll mention something about that. First of all, first cousins can marry and do so legally in more of the population of the United States, than they are prohibited from doing so. Some areas say no, while others say yet.

The Bible, itself has many kinds of relationships condemned in no uncertain terms -- but -- first cousins marrying is not one of those. That is not a prohibition from the Bible, either.

And then, thirdly, genetically speaking, it's not something that causes problems, either.

Thus, in three different areas, you find that it's not the kind of thing that a lot of people make it out to be -- i.e., a bad thing. I'll personally never condemn that, specifically because the Bible, itself makes a big point of some close relationships being forbidden but specifically does not on this one. For me, that's the authoritative word on the matter.

The reason you didn't hear it, is because they're not lefties, plain and simple.

Incorrect. Phelps ran as a Democrat five times.

He is a "civil rights" lawyer.

He sued Ronald Reagan for sending an ambassador to the Vatican, saying that it was a violation of freedom of religion.

Does any of this sound "right wing"? Oh yeah, Phreeky Phred is a leftist.

My husband has said he has a “list” in case he gets an incurable illness. I’m not saying the Phelps family is on it, but let’s just say it’s in their best interest for my hubby to remain healthy ;-)

I was aware of his past connections there, from when I first read up on him, from a long while back. It's also mentioned several other places where there's information on him.

But, with Phelps, he's sort of like "Cho" (that shooter at Virginia Tech) in that the shooter had all sorts of "connections" with this and that, in what he said or thought -- but he was actually none of those things (like Neo-Nazi, Christian, Muslim/Islamic, and anti-Christian [at the same time as "Christian", in symbolism and allusion]).

So, it's like that with Phelps in that he's got connections to all sides (in deeds and philosophy, one or the other), which makes him of "no side" at all.

It's a wonder that this closed-minded bunch of hate-filled inbred lawyers can call themselves a 'church' and still keep a straight face.

May the good Lord smite them all with a plague.

Isn’t it sad when 1st cousins marry?

That's a line from a movie, I cannot remember the name of just now, but the line was intended to be an insult to some rich spoiled college kids as a reference to their paternity. As for the Bible, Abraham married his half-sister, Issac and Jacob married their 1st cousins, Jacob twice. I have read that aside from certain, fairly rare, genetic defects, mating of close relatives is not detrimental to the offspring. Many ME tribal societies practically demand it........
