I would refer you to the post you quoted, but obviously you didn’t understand it the first time. I have little hope that reading it again is going to help you.

I understood your quote, I just reject the premise that the oath of enlistment obligation ends when one gets out- which your statement REQUIRES for this to not be a veteran's issue from a duty point of view.

You and I will have to agree to disagree

You have it right, let there be no doubt about it.

Congress and the President, through their amnesty bill, are spitting in the face of every Veteran and every law-abiding American and every immigrant, past, present and future, that comes here by the rules. This bill, their plans, are a kick in the groin to the rule-of-law and honor.

Seeing some anarchist type burn Old Glory and stomp on it would bother me far less than watching these sorry excuses for Americans serve their own self-interests at the expense of our nation.

While I in no way support illegal immigrants, it's not a Constitutional issue. ... (snip)

I can't argue with anything you say in the technical sense. If Congress wants to rewrite our immigration laws this way they have the authority to do so.

But IMO you are speaking of the letter of the law. The grand letter of the law in this land is the Constitution though and it was written as a framework to govern the country by the rule-of-law. That is the underlying premise of the Constitution. In that sense then the rule-of-law is the spirit of the Constitution and the methods and intents behind this "immigration" bill are sorely opposed to that spirit.

These politicians follow the letter of the law and hiding behind that they destroy the essence of it.

Grown beyond all that "all enemies foreign and domestic" thing have you?

Read that oath again. It's foreign and domestic enemies *of the Constitution*, not of the United States, or of it's people. Congress has all the power it needs to regulate immigration, delegated to them in Article I, section 8: Congress shall have the power ... "To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization, and uniform Laws on the subject of Bankruptcies throughout the United States;"

Their refusal to exercise that power in a manner that pleases us, myself most definitely included, is not a matter of supporting or defending the Constitution, or bearing true faith and alligence to the same. It's a matter to be rectified at election time, if we can.

The Constitution *is* the highest law. But it mainly applies to the government, what powers the federal government has, and what powers they don't have. It also applies to the states in the sense of defining powers they do not have and may not exercise. Little if any of it applies to individuals, be they US citizens or foreign nationals. Those are matters for Congress and state legislatures, acting within their legitimate powers.

Thus the Constitution does stand for the rule of law, and not of men, but not the way you mean it.

Whooah. The nation I took an oath to defend is getting dangerously close to ceasing to exist.

You have totally lost me here with all due respect. I see the Constitution as very much the basis of the rule of law of and by men. Its inspiration regardless; it was originated by men, instituted by men and meant to guide men in self(men)-government.

I also don't know what you mean by "not the way you mean it." You have basically restated it exactly as I meant it; that the Constitution has a premise and the premise is the rule of law. I merely characterized that premise, that essence, as its "spirit."

My main point was/is that the "immigration" bill may technically be Constitutionally legal (as you first said) but it is in direct opposition to the spirit of the Constitution's basic premise (spirit) of rule of law.

Patriots....Pray tell.....how could anyone support chicken ranchers, motel owners, turkey pluckers, under the table contractors and attorney slime who want American tax payers to pay for illegal alien health care, college educations, their legal bills etc.

Put them out of business...Hunt them down with impunity. Turn them into the IRS, State Labor Law Agencies.... make every Patriot a whistle blower....

Remember it is us against them. They are out to ruin our culture and make us pay for it before we are put into poverty too. They are slave masters making slaves out of immigrants and we get to pay the welfare bill...

How could anyone in power sell us down the river like this...disgusting.
