“I feel bad for those who have lost their jobs but I really hope the RNC gets a clue from all this.”

I also feel sorry for those that lost their jobs.

But for every solicitor that lost a job, there are thousands more that have lost their livelihoods to illegal aliens.

When I was a kid, I bought my first car using money I made doing “jobs Americans won’t do”. Yep. I picked crops in the field from sunup to sundown.

I put myself through engineering school doing “jobs Americans won’t do”. So did my brothers.

In my poor area of the country there are many, many, families that make their living doing “jobs Americans won’t do”. They didn’t have parents with the money to get them better educations.

Feel sorry for them.

I wanted to punch Jorge in the nose when he made that ignorant, insulting, and dishonest statement.

Believe me, I do. I know many able bodied men (and some women) who have lost decent jobs in the construction industry because of undercutting by illegals. But there are those in the industry that swear they can’t get Americans to do the work. Riiiiight!!!

About the only thing these folks might be good for is field work, but we have a special visa and system already in place for them. I am in favor of a rational guest worker program with safeguards in place to be sure they don’t drain our health care and welfare systems while they are here. I have worked with the legal migrant farmworkers and have participated in providing clothing and Christmas gifts to them. They are truly hard working people in need of our help but these people are indeed here legally and return to Mexico when the season is over. They should be able to apply for citizenship if they have been working here legally and go through a system that doesn’t force them to pay bribes all the way down the line in Mexico.

So I definitely do feel for anyone who has been squeezed out by illegals. We should crack down on employers immediately! We should build the fence. We should cut off welfare benefits to illegals. We should sanction so called “sanctuary cities” by withholding any and all federal funds. But who is going to do this? It’s frustrating beyond belief!

I also feel bad for the 65 or so phone solicitors that lost their jobs through no fault of their own and now will likely have difficulty securing other employment because at their pay level, any jobs will probably be going to an illegal.
