Interesting. I’d like to see him remain with Budweiser. But I’m with him either way.

Kelley will remain in charge of JRM. Of course she will continue as his advisor and a darn good one at that. She is now the most powerful woman in Nascar. Mike Davis is his JRM PR guy and will continue to go to the races with him. There is another Bud PR guy, whose future remains with the Bud release I just posted. That shall remain to be seen, Bud has a personal contract with Jr through 2008 that has nothing to do with the car.

Both she and Jr have had leftover hard feelings from the time they had to move in with Sr and Teresa. There’s a lot to the story, but best left unsaid.

"I could totally see Teresa slapping #8 on whatever car Kyle drives if he signs with DEI (and I could see her signing him, and Kyle signing, just to spite Jr. and HMS)."

Yes and could she become even more hated?? I said yesterday she needs to get DEI back on a very positive track and stop being so stubborn or else see it fail miserably.

In a way I feel like the 8 should stay with Dale Earnhardt Inc.

Yes but the 8 was given to Jr by his father specifically because his granddaddy Ralph ran that number.

Here’s a good article on yahoo.com

snipped~

“Junior has spoken. It isn’t about perceived rifts or stereotypes. It isn’t about who will up his star wattage or pump his ego. This is about driving, about winning, about taking the championships that the 32-year-old believes he has in him. This is about no more year-plus droughts.
Teresa Earnhardt wondered about her stepson’s priorities, publicly questioned her cash machine employee, dared him to respond.

Now he has. Now he walks. Now the answer is oh-so clear. “

If Teresa relinquished the #8, there’s no guarantee DEI could ever get it back is there?

The problem with swapping car numbers is that HMS and Kellog have a long relationship. They won a couple of championships witb Terry Labonte. So Rick can’t just jump to Bud. On the other hand, the National Guard sponsorship of the 25 is just for this year, and Budweiser sponsored the 25 before they went to the 8 team. So I’m not surprised sponsorship and car details have not been worked out yet. Also there’s CC and other team details to work out. HMS is deep in talent and resources. Junior would benefit from a fresh start with an HMS CC. Don’t forget, all of the HMS CC’s have won races this year.

Sure some dumb reporter asked that. Reporters, as a class of workers, are among the most clueless people around. But Junior will win at HMS. If he starts with a new CC, it will take awhile for them to gel, but that’s OK. HMS does the best job of genuinely sharing info among their teams. Everyone who is a genuine fan of Junior, the person, instead of just his name, should be thrilled for him today. This is the opportunity of his life.

I won’t be surprised if Jr wins the championship in 08.

I bet Tony Jr. will come over too. I agree, love or hate Hendrick, he has the best team in NASCAR. This was Jr.'s best choice.

Don’t ya actually have to run the races and win the points and so forth to win a Championship? I mean, even for Hendrick, you still have to be out there so NasCar can fix the race for them, ya know throw the cautions just at the right time etc.

I think it’s great for Jr. This will answer the long time question for many fans. When Sr. was alive, Jr seemed to race much better, but upon Sr. passing, Jr. hasn’t seemed to do as well.

Is the Jr. success/non-success due to equipment, coaching, crewman, etc., or the lack of access to his Dad’s guidance, past set-up notes etc.???

Expecting Junior to win the championship next year may be too ambitious and unfair, especially if he has a new CC. However, it is fair to expect him to perform better than he has at DEI the last couple of years.

For Junior's sake, I hope he does not bring Tony with him. Junior needs to take full advantage of this opportunity to start fresh. He'd be better off walking into an established HMS team -- 5 or 25, both of which have won this year -- and gelling with them. Why bring over ideas and personnel who are not making it happen for him at DEI? Junior says he wants a fresh start. This is a golden opportunity for him to do so, and actually gain better personnel and equipment, as well as to be part of a true team environment where all four teams share info.

I'm a long-time and very loyal Jeff Gordon fan. But I like Junior and am very happy for him. I've said many times that he needs to get out from under his father's shadow. This is Junior's life, not his dad's. So I hope Junior walks into a true HMS team instead of trying to duplicate the team he had at DEI.

But if he becomes a vegan & joins PETA, I’m guessing he has a problem?

Yup! Absolutely!

Or if he publicly supports any liberal DemocRAT. (I don't care what he does privately.)

Or if he publicly attacks our military.

Or if he curses the Holy Spirit.

Or if he comes out against the Second Amendment.

Or if he burns the American flag.....

We all choose our favorite drivers for own reasons. And we all have lines they better not cross otherwise they lose our support.

Some might stand with Junior no matter what he does except becoming a serial baby-killer. Other like me will abandon him simply because he has gone to work for a Clintonista.

To each their own.

You said:

“It had to be said - the man is a crook, regardless of the piece of paper Bill Clinton signed that pardoned him. It extends to his organization. Even though HMS has been caught cheating several times and have a reputation for it (especially Knauss and Jimmie Johnson), they have proven that it pays to cheat, regardless of the consequences. A lot/most teams cheat, but HMS took it to the next level and aren’t shy about it. It’s unfortunate that Jr is waltzing into this atmosphere, but he’s a big boy and knows the kind of people he will be around.”

It is interesting that you would say all of this in defense of a driver, Dale Jr., who was just docked 100 driver points for his team’s, dare I say it?, cheating.

You said:

“will take Kelley to NY if they win the championship”

I don’t think he was talking about Kelley. He was talking about “Mrs. Earnhardt,” Dale Jr.’s mother, who was at the press conference.

If you are correct, tell me how he was "cheating?"

I bet you can't, 'cause they weren't.
