My information is not all wrong as you stated. This from a Lion site:

You need to check your resources again my friend. Your site source only mentions a lion with a pride and as I stated before, nomadic lions (males with no prides) hunt for themselves and are not reliant upon females. Also males who do have prides often help in the hunt to bring down the larger prey animals, whenever they are around and not patrolling their territory. So the information your source provided is skewered (propagating the lazy lion myth) if not invalid. Lions (males) are not less adept hunters, clumsy and their manes doe not hinder them in any way. They don’t hunt as often as the females due to their primary function is to protect the pride which they have to do constantly( like when te females are hunting, who do you think is protecting the cubs from opportunistic predators?). So again show some respect to the king.
One of my all time favorite wildlife vids is of a male lion that apparently hates hyenas. I mean goes out of his way to kill them.
The vid shows him running down a hyena and absolutely mauling her. As viscous an attack as I’ve ever seen.
It shows the power of a male lion, awesome.
Awsemoe video. I love the moment when one of the buffalo gets a lion on his horns and flips her up into the air. One would think that had to hurt.
