Why should they invite Bush? He has betrayed the Republican party by creating a possibly unhealable rift between it and the conservative base. He has betrayed conservatives by insulting them and ignoring them. He has betrayed America by failing to enforce the law and rewarding lawlessness.

Sounds from the ‘debate’ yesterday that the candidates are making points by attacking the Bush record. The Pres need not be at the Convention since he will be busy then doing his job. Whoever is keynote speaker should be noted.

Speculation, rumor, and troublemaking.

But it may well turn out to be true. Nobody cares that the Democrats hate Bush, but the way things are going at the moment the base no longer likes him much either.

Immigration is the problem, but it also makes people more resentful about some of the other things. This isn’t the first time Bush has gotten together with Teddy Kennedy to push something over on the American people. There was No Child Left Behind, there was the medicare drug bill, there have been a ton of expensive spending bills, there was Harriet Miers, there’s Gonzalez and the broken Justice Department.

He appointed Roberts and Alito to SCOTUS (after a barroom brawl over Miers), and that’s almost the only good thing he’s done in his whole second term.

It would all be water over the dam if Bush was doing something good now, but other than Iraq, he’s not. We didn’t swallow the medicare spending bill so we could get “immigration reform,” ethanol, and AIDS spending in Africa as our big rewards.

Does this person have a name?

Hardball is being broadcast again right now (with Tom Delay). I'll watch and let you know.

Bush’s approval rating could be 5% and he’d still be invited to speak at the GOP convention. He’ll be there.

And regarding this story, consider the source.

Alot can happen between now and the time of the Rep. Convention. Things could turn around for the President.

Don’t forget his amnesty bill will DESTROY THE REPUBLICAN PARTY by letting in 20-30 million New dem voters and make it the permanent minority party .
Just look at Calif if you want to see what will happen in FL, TX, GA, CO, VA, NC, TN, in the next 20 years .Jorge and Rove should both be tarred and feathered !

That's because Fred has class. I'm largely loosing what class I have with regards to the President over this immigration thing.

As for whether or not it'd be good, it's far too early to say. If the convention were being held today, it might be a good idea to find a dignified way for him to stay away rather than endure the (well-earned) boos and catcalls he'd be almost surely face given the current move.

We can't know what decision will be best in fall 2008 because we can't know what will happen between now and then. The immigration bill may pass and Bush may sign it, or he might have a Harriet Miers moment, listen to conservatives for once, and start confronting the Democrats. Iraq may have improved or it may be a disaster. We might be at war with Iran, there might be a revolution there, or we might have allowed them to test a nuclear weapon. There could be a recession, or there could be runaway growth.

There are too many possibilities to worry about this right now. That said, my base position is that the President gets to speak unless it's very clear the party has turned fiercely against him. The embarrassment to the country alone should be enough to recommend caution in taking such a drastic step. Whatever we think of the man, I think we should still show the proper respect to the office.

Tune into MSNBC. It just started (the second broadcast of his show).

Look, it’s just a speculation from a political insider. I’ll post his name when I see him. It went by so fast earlier.

This is a “vanity” post.

And, a provocative discussion, I hope.

Tancredo was told by Rove to never darken the doorway of the white house.

Bad of Rove to say that. But I will bet you Tancredo will not darken the door of the WH on Jan 20, 2009.

It might be a good idea for you to learn everything they didn’t allow you to learn thus far wrt the 1968 Democratic Convention......a tongue-in-cheek version might be “when the street people took over the Democratic party”....

Too late. Your goose is cooked and if you think your new and illegal voter roster is going to vote for you; think again. They won’t. They are here for another reason. It will be a nightmare for you. You will not be in charge anymore whether we vote you out or they do which is going to be the case. Of course, don’t forget we know that you are passing this amnesty to keep us distracted from what you are really doing and that is global so you can not only steal money from America; but the world.

You lose.......We are both turning on you.

Tancredo said he would not use Bush for anything if he were elected

Talk about a stupid hypothetical...
