Cheney is NOT a Bush puppet. He was chosen, and I guess this is our Doh! moment in retrospect, to give Bush credibility with conservatives in his 2000 campaign.

Cheney does NOT agree with eveything this administration does. He was not real high on the Miers’ selecton to name one, though as his Vice President he keeps his mouth shut mostly about disagreements. I remember when he was dispatched to Rush and a few others to try and sell Miers, and he was as far from enthusiastic as one could get without coming out and saying it. Since Cheney has not been helping Bush out on this, I’d wager he’s more on our side then Bush’s.

Now, Cheney’s family IS a bit weak on some social issues, specifically revolving around homosexuality, but I doubt his daughter joining the Thompson campaign signals cause for worry on the border front. Now if Jeb’s son joins in a high profile role in the inner circle, then the warning flares are going to go off.

Just for the record, Cheney is the last member of this administration I give a damn about. He’s actually conservative, and for all my vitriol against this President and his personal I still respect Cheney. Though I have little doubt that man in the Oval would have ditched him like Rummy and Ashcroft if he weren’t the Vice.

I frankly think it's great that the Cheney's seem to be behind Fred Thompson. I'll be even be more thrilled when President Bush comes out for him, if he's the Republican candidate.

It's obvious from Fred Thompson's statements that he doesn't support this Immigration Bill. I just wish everyone would stop this relentless bashing because some folks who have supported Bush in the past are supporting Fred Thompson. I know that The President disappointed a lot of his former supporters, and I don't like the Immigration bill much myself, but I'm not going to ignore all the good things the President did before that, and even his WORST conservative critics can't deny those, even if they WANT to.

Fred Thompson is his own candidate, and it's just silly for anyone to withhold support for him out of spite because they're angry with someone else.

You are a good person to have as a loyal supporter. I do think it is wise to pay attention to the kinds of people/groups supporting the various candidates. It says something about the candidate and the supporter. Unfortunately in politics you cannot just take everything at face value. The motive to deceive is strong. Still, we don’t want to be unfair either. And yes, Bush has done some good things.

Is Liz Cheney related to Lynne Cheney?

This might explain why Fred wants her -

“In late January 2007 Cheney penned an editorial in The Washington Post outlining the military and national security faults of Senator Hillary Clinton’s recently adopted position on the war.”

Yes, it is wise, and if NARAL or Emily's List or the ACLU or the Southern Poverty Law Center came out in favor of Fred, I'd be real worried. Doesn't bother me a bit that some who supported and worked hard to get President Bush elected are willing to do the same for Fred. After all, their man was elected TWICE, so they have some idea of what they're doing.

Sorry about that. I should have explained myself better. That posting style was based on another poster’s post here a while back. It just reminded me of that. No disrespect intended.

No problem. I think right now we are all a little mind freaked by our recent events. Trust is hard to give out.

Things I thought were too unbelievable to be true at one time in my life seem to be playing out.

Its almost like believing anyone in government again is a stretch.

I like Fred, I like Hunter. Don’t know a great deal of detail about either one of them. I just know I can’t tolerate Rooty.

I’m not looking to condem or credit her. No reason to. Someone simply stated that Liz Cheney joined Fred Thompson’s team. It was a simple statement and then people jumped in with sarcastic posts about whether or not it was her sister and other remarks that weren’t necessary.

Well, if they are going to announce it like it is something special, people are entitled to their comments and opinions. Our politicians and political candidates aren't royalty.

I believe my first comment was, "So?" I stand by that. I'm not saying I am immune to having stupid first reactions, but in this case I'll stand by my first reaction.

Announcement?
Was there a press conference called?
It was a simple statement.

Now you are picking at nothing. Whether there was a conference or there was not a conference, the link here is to the Drudge Report. You can call it whatever you want, but it announces, reports,... states as though it's important,... the fact that Liz Cheney joined the Thompson campaign. Are you suggesting we the people, the voters, have no right to our opinions on the matter? What do you think FR is all about?

Why be too senstive about this? The people you are picking at are the very voters Thompson will want to win support from.
