The Hoover Institution at Stanford University has just posted a 15-minute interview with Republican presidential almost-candidate Fred Thompson by Peter Robinson, a Fellow at the Hoover Institution, on Google Video.

It's a nice serious counterpoint to Thompson's appearance on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night. Robinson speaks with Fred Thompson about his candidacy for President of the Unites States and delves into the key issues facing America today, the politics of running for president, and the source of Thompson's conservative views.

Turns out that Thompson is a movement conservative, inspired to become active in politics by the founder of modern American conservatism.

I'll bet this interview doesn't ask Thompson what he hates most about America and demanding an answer in 15 seconds or less. Thompson must be a "coward" for avoiding deep, penetrating questions like this posed by Democrat operatives posing as journalists.

Fred’s not having to alter any of his long held views to run for President.

I’m not sure why all the bitter Fred posts on FR. He hasn’t declared because he hasn’t NEEDED to, there is no better reason.

The current “debates” are humiliating and insulting, WHY are they run by liberals?. Why doesn’t the RNC run the debates with their own moderators and format and let the networks COVER it. Shouldn’t the PARTY ask the questions they think are important instead of an hour of liberals looking for a “gotcha” question???

FDT looks better in this setting than what I have seen recently.

The man is impressive, his thoughts are expressed with clarity and lucidity. I am talking about the interviewer, Peter Robinson. Fred does okay, but suffers from comparison to the interviewer.
