“This goes far beyond the president, Dems or GOP Rinos.”
Agreed, our Republic is being “F” with, no doubt about it.
The legislation passed unanimously, IIRC.
Just keep doing what you've been doing. You can't do any more than that.
Get to work on your state's entire House delegation. Don't worry about district or party. Just call them, be honest about who you are and why you're calling, and tell them you're opposed. Ask how that Rep stands on the issue.
If you haven't already, call the White House and RNC. Maybe your state GOP office.
Followup on each call with a short email.
I've already done all of this myself, and it looks as if a second round is nearly due.
‘Where did Davis say he did not want his citzenship
restored?’
Just about every place he spoke publicly after the Civil War, but in particular in his last public address six months (approximately) before he died.
Which is why I’m convinced Trent Lott is a moron, btw. For somebody that lobbied to restore Davis’s citizenship, he had to be oblivious to the man’s stated wish on the matter.
The arrogance is stunning when you consider this.
I agree, its time we started working on our House reps as well. We’ve got to keep fighting this monstrosity.
Ya' gotta' love Rohrbacher, he's always righteously indignant about something, and he never holds back.
I loved it when the ANSWER weenies showed up to protest at his front yard a couple months ago, Dana came roaring out of the house in his Sunday morning lounging garb and yelled at them for waking up his brand new baby. Told them to get off the lawn and into the street or he'd call the police. Gave 'em a real good "what for", and it was all on tape.
IMO he came off as the good guy verses a bunch of mental cripples.
I apologize for my harsh language, Mom.
With your permission I am going to cut, copy, paste and send this hardcopy to a few government critters that are pushing this SHamnesty thing
Conspiracy to commit treason alert!
No apology necessary — these are disturbing times we are living in with this bill they want to pass and emotions are running high.

Just posted the thread and added some more of Sen Inhofe’s comments about the bill that was defeated and what he is trying to do on Immigration.
We have one repubbie in the Senate in Oregon, Gordon Smith, and I can pretty well predict that he is gone in the next election. He has lost most of the support he had in the state. This means a Democrat most likely will take the seat. Don’t count on picking up seats for the GOP in Oregon.
kabar, that was an excellent summation and analysys. Very insightful.
Since last year I've been harping on the impossibility of processing 15 million+++ applications without chaos and eventually complete breakdown of the immigration system. I don't mean breakdown like the one we've had for 20 years, I mean stop, finished, doesn't function anymore.
I discovered years ago during my wife's immigration that every pol and staffer on Capitol Hill knows the immigration system doesn't work, and you'll notice that this bill has no provisions or funding or personnel to fix the system.
It would be one (cynical) thing to say that Congress is "fixing the problem" by making all illegals, legal. Presto chango, done. But in fact once those 15 million applications hit the system it will go into complete lockdown. Anyone wanting legal immigration will need to wait a century or two.
And you are also right that the timing of the "triggers" is critical to Congress's ploy. First, all illegals get instant "probationary" Z visa status the moment the bill is signed by George Bush (aka Amnesty). No applications, no paper, no anything will be added to the CIS burden for at least 18 months and well after the 2008 election. But after that the floodgates will open and CIS will drown.
With a broken system, its predictable that anyone in the U.S. claiming Z visa probationary status will be off the hook for at least 5 years. There will be a law immunizing them from arrest and deportation (S.1348) and there will be no expectation of proof since "the system is broken".
We will have de facto open borders since no one will be able to implement the law, and no way to prove that anyone is or isn't compliant with it.
I hate to be dismal, but my Father who in the 60's was Republican Party Chair in a large Eastern city says much the same thing.
"Ted, even though you're not a bonesman,
I'll listen to you over any member of my stupid, 'conservative base'."
I can only vote against two of them, Chambliss and Isackson and you can bet that’s going to happen..I’ll also sendd money to any Republican that runs against Lindsey(butt Boy)Graham.

I had a brief ray of hope with the Assoc. Of Retired Border Patrol Agents.
C-SPAN ran their 1 hour press conference 5 times in 24 hours.
Thanks! I posted the Inhofe comments after he thought this bill was defeated on a thread. My Senator thought it was dead and now to have it resurrected makes me want to scream. As I posted on the new thread with Inhofe’s comments from last week, this is about being Americans first and any differences any of us had in the past need to be put aside and get behind the push to defeat this bill and hear Sen Inhofe’s bill on ENFORCE.
Thank God for Duncan Hunter in the House!
