Taking nothing from Schumi or even Kimi, I have to say that the only other F1 rookie — not the same, of course, as a complete open-wheel road-racing newbie — who’s come even close to showing the same kind of magic as Lewis was Juan Pablo Montoya. I saw him drive at Sears Point about ten years ago in a Barber Dodge, and even with 40 other cars on the track you could tell he was something special. He never clicked with the F1 culture, but Bernie’s loss is Nascar’s gain. And what Lewis did in Canada last week was astonishing, given that the Villeneuve circuit probably holds the record for consistently breaking veteran drivers’ legs. Kubica was damned lucky to get off as lightly as he did...

The guy is just awesome.
This guy has made the most emphatic start to top class racing of any driver, in any series, ever.
He has driven six races to date, qualifying 4th,4th,2nd,2nd,2nd,1st and finished 3rd,2nd,2nd,2nd,2nd,1st And he just took the pole for tomorrow’s US Grand Prix.
In six races to date he has finished equal or better than his starting position.
He has been on the podium of every race, the only driver in the series to have done so.
The two poles he has achieved to date were on tracks he had never driven prior to the event.
OK, he has a good car, but he is out-qualifying the World Champion, Alonso,(who has the same equipment) and is 8 points clear of the field in the World Championship ahead of some very experienced and accomplished drivers.
