Rich people in the US all immediately turn into Socialists if not downright Marxists. I’ve never understood why this is the case. But look at people like Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, etc., and you’ll see that they support leftist causes straight down the line.

It’s because leftists are more apt to kiss their(Gates,etc) asses and worship them than do people on the right.
I guess.
Perhaps people who earn their money in petroleum are different. (Then again, there is Arman Hammer — but he got rich by being a communist.)
There comes a point where your wealth gives you access to, and influence over, governmental officials, who you can persuade to do things to help you and hurt your competition. Once you are at that point, it is to your advantage to promote more government, as you figure that will give you more leverage over competitors who don't have the same level of access
