“hide the truth from America”... I wonder what “truth” that is? Fred has a record of doing what’s right, regardless of “the party” feels about it. His opposition to Roe v. Wade is couched in sound legal principle. This is the only way to win that fight. Emtional rhetoric isn’t productive. His split vote on Clinton’s impeachment was based on strict legal interpretation of the requirements. It would have been easier, and more popular, for Fred to vote the double. Instead, he did what he believed to be right in terms of the law. This philosophy is the reasoning behind his support for pardoning Scooter Libby. I thank the Democrats for illustrating so clearly exactly what is wrong with our government. The same group that screamed about abuse of power regarding the Patriot act, are the same crowd who want Scooter imprisioned, and not pardoned, regardless of the shaky legality of the entire affair. The argument is really “we hate government abuse of power... unless we’re the ones doing it”. We need Fred Thompson because we need a calm, reasonable voice to lead us out of this insane protest frenzy.
