What a stupid letter. It’s one thing to draw down our forces and arm more Iraqis. But this says to withdraw and replace our military presence with “diplomatic” efforts.

The voters ought to post a letter to George to go back to the Buckeye state. What a RINO. I’m glad I no longer live there. At least in MI we KNOW our Senators are DIM’s.

Voinovich, my senator, now has solid competition for his US Senate seat. My congressman Rob Portman just quit the Bush Administration and said he’s open to running for the Senate.

Voinovich cried about John Bolton, the best ambassador to the UN we’ve had since Jeane Kirkpatrick.

Voinovich will vote against Ohio workers and for the Kennedy/McCain Illegal Amnesty Bill.

And now Voinovich turns against our troops in the field before they’ve even had their chance to clean up Baghdad in the surge.

Voinovich is going down.

He is a liberal, whino, rino.

I certainly hope the President listens.

I just don’t think I can stand the sight of a grown man
crying all over himself again. Jeez!

Here’s the text of Voinovich’s letter to Bush:

“The United States has been faced with tremendous challenges during your administration. As the United States engages in its fifth year in Iraq, I submit to you respectfully that we must begin to develop a comprehensive plan for our country’s gradual military disengagement from Iraq and a corresponding increase in responsibility to the Iraqi government and its regional neighbors. Though it may seem contradictory, I believe we can accomplish more in Iraq by gradually and responsibly reducing our forces and focusing on a robust strategy of international cooperation and coordinated foreign aid. We must not abandon our mission, but we must begin a transition where the Iraqi government and its neighbors play a larger role in stabilizing Iraq.

As you know, I have been concerned about the situation in Iraq for some time. Nonetheless, I was steadfast in voting against any legislation that would limit or cut off spending for the war. I have consistently opposed attempts to limit your powers as our Commander-in-Chief, and I have openly opposed any form of precipitous withdrawal that would threaten our men and women in uniform, endanger American interests, or abandon the commitment we have made to the people of Iraq who do want our help.

A policy of responsible military disengagement with a corresponding increase [in] non-military support is the best way to advance our nation’s interests in Iraq and achieve our primary goals: to help Iraqis stabilize their country and improve the security of the United States. However, I am also concerned that we are running out of time.

The commitment of the United States to the principles of democracy and freedom will not falter. Our military has fought courageously and admirably, and it is time to pursue a strategy that combines the resources of our military with the resources of our diplomatic corps and international partners. I have enclosed a brief position paper that outlines my thoughts for a way forward in Iraq.

I hope that you will review this paper, and the many other recommendations that have been proposed, as you fulfill the responsibilities of being our Commander-in-Chief. My prayers are with you and our nation.”

At some point, President Bush intends to decrease our troop commitment.

Perhaps even next year. Dems and RINO's will claim victory but this has been the plan all along; to decrease troops as Baghdad is secured.

"However, I am also concerned that we are running out of time," Voinovich added.

Not we, Senator. You are running out of time. 2010 gives me three years to sharpen my skills to make a run at you.

Two words from this Ohio voter: Vuck Foinovich. I’ll never vote for the creep again. At least the Dem running against him will have the honesty to put the “D” after his name. There is nothing Republican about Georgy.

While you are at it, work us up an exit plan for Germany, Japan and Korea.

In modern times only communist Vietnam failed to learn that the lesson that teaches, “Lose the war to the U.S. and then lay back and count the golden flow that will roll in.

Instead Vietnam not only defeated the U.S. but kicked the U.S. out of the country.

There is a reason why top Iraqis want us to stay.

George V. Voinovich - Republican (Ohio)

During Bolton's confirmation hearing Bolton could not get out of committee for a vote because of THIS "republican" and these are a few of his words as he broke into tears... literally

"But what message are we sending to the world community when in the same breath we have sought to appoint an ambassador to the United Nations who himself has been accused of being arrogant, of not listening to his friends, of acting unilaterally, of bullying those who do not have the ability to properly defend themselves? These are the very characteristics that we’re trying to dispel in the world community.

It is my concern that the confirmation of John Bolton would send a contradictory and negative message to the world community about U.S. intentions. I’m afraid that his confirmation will tell the world that we’re not dedicated to repairing our relationship or working as a team, but that we believe only someone with sharp elbows can deal properly with the international community.

And to those who say a vote against John Bolton is against reform of the U.N., I say, nonsense. There are many other people who are qualified to go to the United Nations that can get the job done for our country. Frankly, I’m concerned that Mr. Bolton would make it more difficult for us to achieve the badly needed reforms to this outdated institution. I believe that there could even be more obstacles to reform if Mr. Bolton is sent to the United Nations than if he were another candidate.

Another reason I believe Mr. Bolton is not the best candidate for the job is his tendency to act without regard for the views of others and without respect for the chain of command.

Who is to say that Mr. Bolton will not continue to stray off message as ambassador to the U.N.?

Who is to say he will not hurt rather than help U.S. relations with the international community and our desire to reform the U.N.?

I have concerns about Mr. Bolton’s ability to inspire and lead a team so that it can be as effective as possible in completing the important task before him.

And I’m not the only one.

There is no doubt that Mr. Bolton has serious deficiencies in the areas that are critical to be a good ambassador.

Mr. Chairman, I have to say that after poring over the hundreds of pages of testimony and — you know, I wasn’t here for those hearings, but I did my penance, I read all of it — I believe that John Bolton would have been fired if he’d worked for a major corporation. This is not the behavior of a true leader who upholds the kind of democracy that President Bush is seeking to promote globally. This is not the behavior that should be endorsed as the face of the United States to the world community and the United Nations. Rather, Mr. Chairman, it is my opinion that John Bolton is the poster child of what someone in the diplomatic corps should not be.

We must recognize that to be successful in this war, one of our most important tools is public diplomacy.

After hours of deliberation, telephone calls, personal conversations, reading hundreds of pages of transcripts and asking for guidance from above, I have come to the determination that the United States can do better than John Bolton.
"

This isn’t the first time he is weak on this issue... you can even just search FreeRepublic and find several stories over the past 8+ months that he was ‘frustrated’ about Iraq, teaming up with Biden and all.

He also voted FOR the illegal immigration bill, is for repealing the tax cuts, wants NEW taxes (to pay for the ‘bungled’ war), and crys like a little girl (no offense to little girls)
