im·i·tate
Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[im-i-teyt] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation
–verb (used with object), -tat·ed, -tat·ing.

1. to follow or endeavor to follow as a model or example: to imitate an author's style; to imitate an older brother.
2. to mimic; impersonate: The students imitated the teacher behind her back.
3. to make a copy of; reproduce closely.
4. to have or assume the appearance of; simulate; resemble.

Please note that intent is mentioned nowhere. I'm done with the semantics.

Please note that intent is mentioned nowhere.

Is there a difference in the intent behind the imitation under heading 1 and heading 2 of the definition you supplied? Are "following as a model" and "mocking" synonymic terms?

I'm done with the semantics.

You introduced semantics, not I. So let's continue down your path.

Clearly Coulter is being accused of imitation in the sense of heading 1 that you supplied.

In reality, her words meet the conditions of heading 2.

So she is indeed being misrepresented.
