It was more than six years ago that George W. Bush first was sworn in as President of the United States, and one of the first items he presented to Congress was for a sweeping energy bill. It covered many things, of course, but one of its primary goals was to make America less dependent on foreign oil, and especially less dependent on oil from the middle East.

Congress needs to get off their duffs and get the oil flowing. That and build refineries and nuclear power plants.

We need to stop the money flow to the Middle East. NOW!

Should be an issue for the GOP to take to the voters next year - For both NS reasons as well as for lowering the price of crude......(yet they seem inept at making this simple and clear case to the American public).

that’s one of my pet peeves.

these fashionable liberal socialists are always traveling the planet,

but they won’t allow the u.s. to use it’s own resources.

ted kennedy’s nix on the wind power off cape sod is another example.

It’s beyond even that. It’s a matter of national security.

Billions go to the Middle east every month..and most of that money is creating and supporting jihadis and terror cells all over.

Don’t hold your breath. The democrats are at the mercy of the environmentalist wackos.

We could have passed ANWR drilling last year. It passed the Senate but was defeated in the House, thanks to NO votes from Northeastern RINOs. Perhaps they thought that by opposing ANWR they could get reelected. But they antagonized their Republican base & didn’t win any RAT votes for their “statesmanship.” As a result, they were defeated for reelection.

It was time 12 years ago.

better late than never, but not much help for the near future.

By the time the first drop flows, the Democrats will have already destroyed our economy. Hell, Algore wanted gas to cost $10 a gallon back when it was under a dollar.

The future of this country ain’t pretty if the current crop of Socialists continue to hold any power after 2008.

These enviro whackos have managed to turn energy independence and SECURITY into a trite debate over nature.

No Kidding. I feel somewhat optimistic about a Republican President but not about regaining a conservative majority in Congress.

ANWR is a perfect example of the media manipulating public opinion.

How about also drilling everywhere throughout the entire North American continent wherever the highest concentrations of both coal and oil presently are? Come on already!

This should be one of the biggest issues of our time. The truth is Democrats are responsible for these sky-high fuel prices. They and their loony tune envirowacko friends are doing everything they can to drive up the price of precious fuel because they prevent the exploration and refining of our own oil.

The enviros have the dems in their pockets on this and they’ve dug their heels in on every attempt to open it for drilling. With oil prices going up endlessly and our dependency on foreign oil the people are going to force this issue with dems, IMO.

Yes, Northeastern RINO, New Hampshire’s own Jeb Bradley is one of those of whom you speak who paid the price.

Hope something other than a RINO surfaces for the next election.

Follow the money on this one.

The capital spent on ANWR stays in the USA and so does the profit. Those that profit an not fans of the Democrats. Thy had rather terrorists get some of the dividends.
