This is part of the “reform of the reform.” The reformers introduced so many goofy changes that it alienated many older Catholics.

I’m like you—may bring me back to Mass, too. I just can’t stand all the silly stuff that goes on at the altar these days.

I go to St. Benedict Abbey....the monks and priests chant the liturgy in Latin...Gregorian. Matins, lauds, sext, vespers, and compline, plus two masses a day. One in English, one Gregorian chant. Amazing, wonderful.

I believe I liked the Latin mass better also. I might go back to church again just to hear it.

If they did the mass in Aramaic even *fewer* people would understand it!!! Yeah, but it would make a lot more sense than doing it in the language of the oppressors who crucified him

I like the mass in english and I like the Latin mass. But let's not pretend that the latin mass is the traditional one. Remember the apostles went forth and preached to many nations in the local tongue. That is the original story.
Except for a bunch of us over 55s, not many people really care about the Latin mass, but I think is was a bad move to have banned it. Let us have a choice.

I don’t think Vatican II outlawed the Latin Mass. I think people just ran it over to get to the new one.
