Here we are again my friends, hopefully for the last debate thread on this particular monstrous legislation. Proceedings are supposed to begin at 9:30 a.m. EST, with the cloture vote being taken at 10:30 a.m.
On a personal note, you've all been wonderful in your passion, vigilance, and commitment to the principles on which our country was founded. If I have to be in a foxhole, I want to be in it with you guys.
That's the spin -
Cloture means debate ends and a vote (not requiring a 60 vote majority) takes place. The 'bipartisans' are NOW claiming that passage on a simple majority vote would encourage debate, presumably when the Senate and House bills met in conference.
There is? I didn't know that. At what point in the process will it occur?
The more Reid blathers on the more he hurts his cause. I hope he talks to next week.

Not too sure about that. When Clinton was president, the republicans actually acted like conservatives. There is no way that No Child Left Behind, CFR, Medicare Plan-D or any of the other insane programs would have been passed if Kerry or Gore were president.
