Here we are again my friends, hopefully for the last debate thread on this particular monstrous legislation. Proceedings are supposed to begin at 9:30 a.m. EST, with the cloture vote being taken at 10:30 a.m.
On a personal note, you've all been wonderful in your passion, vigilance, and commitment to the principles on which our country was founded. If I have to be in a foxhole, I want to be in it with you guys.

The radio said the bill failed by a huge margin and it’s dead until at least after the 2008 elections.

The question is, will Bush be spiteful now and drag his feet even MORE on border security and enforcement?
We need to KEEP this issue on the FRONT BURNER throughout the upcoming election campaign, at all levels but especially the presidential election.
This issue is so important to our society, the candidates must be forced to address it, in detail.
It’s possible that increased attention on the issue during the election campaign will have the added effect of holding Bush’s feet to the fire on actually building the fence and making enforcement efforts against the businesses that use the illegals.
Now, when is the Federal Government going to protect and secure our borders?
When are the employers of illegals going to jail?
Please Mr.BYRD retire...Give someone else a chance...This man has no business holding such power...

He was superb and gave no quarter absolutely none. Using the Gentleman's code of the Senate, he told Dingy Harry to shut up give off the stage and take the vote he had run over his time. PRICELESS

Hutchison was the first to declare she would vote no. That started the snowball.
I would like to think my arguments convinced her lol. I told her the illegals would be democrat voters that wouldn’t vote for her and ruin our country by turning it into a 3rd world socialist hell hole. but I know she is for America anyway.
We can only hope.

Reid says he’ll pull the bill. They’ve had 4 cloture votes that counted, failed on 3. They can continue to debate but elections are approaching and this is shooting conservative political groups donations up and getting us organized (well, really really mad enough to think seriously about getting up off our behinds and organizing. He’d be insane to continue to push it.
If you haven’t joined up at NumbersUSA they seemed to do a good job, got over 400,000 members now I think. I haven’t done any checking into them personally, but they have a good video, send out tons of faxes and e-mail alerts etc.
Don’t let these jerks FORGET that WE aren’t going to let them break Senate rules and play games and not listen to us.
GIVE IT TO THEM WITH BOTH BARRELS WHEN THEY COME HOME FOR JULY 4 RECESS!!!
ENFORCE THE LAWS ON THE BOOKS AGAINST EMPLOYERS AND ILLEGALS AND SEAL THE BORDER NOW!
And in 2008 get rid of the wishy washy jerks like Graham and Alexander REGARDLESS if they voted “no” this time.
