Here we are again my friends, hopefully for the last debate thread on this particular monstrous legislation. Proceedings are supposed to begin at 9:30 a.m. EST, with the cloture vote being taken at 10:30 a.m.

On a personal note, you've all been wonderful in your passion, vigilance, and commitment to the principles on which our country was founded. If I have to be in a foxhole, I want to be in it with you guys.

Specter says that voting for cloture will allow the bill to be improved. LOL. The small band of “grand bargainers” bypassed the normal senate process, no committee hearings and no cost analysis, and drafted this abomination in secret. They have done everything possible to limit debate and the voices of those who oppose the bill. And now they want to pass a bill that only 26% of the American people support. Is this the US Senate or the Soviet Politburo?

NR met Senator Barrasso of Wyoming this morning, who arrives just in time to vote against cloture on the immigration bill. But he indicted that he comes to Washington well-informed enough to vote the right way when he explained that he had xeroxed copies of a few recent pages of NR in his briefcase.
