US Warned of Glasgow Threat Two Weeks Ago

U.S. law enforcement officials received intelligence reports two weeks ago warning of a possible terror attack in Glasgow against "airport infrastructure or aircraft," a senior US law enforcement officials tells the Blotter on ABCNews.com.

The intelligence reports also warned that airports and aircraft in the Czech Republic could be the targets of al Qaeda-connected terrorists.

The warnings were kept secret for operational reasons, according to officials. In public, the White House and Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff have continued to maintain they know of no specific or credible threats involving the United States, even though the intelligence reports specify US aircraft as possible targets.

A US official told ABCNews.com that the intelligence reports led to the assignment of Federal Air Marshals to flights into and out of both Glasgow and Prague.

Air marshals had been added to flights into and out of Germany late last month, based on similar warnings.

“Where’s the fence”, indeed! I don’t want to even speculate where the money actually went. We’ve only built around 28 miles of fence. Real fence, not “virtual fence”. What good does a “virtual fence” do, if our BP agents get thrown in jail for doing their job? Tell me that?

To many politicians, the end justifies the means. It is getting more and more difficult to find an honest person to vote for.

His place was in Washington, regardless of the risk.

Totally unreasonable. There is nothing the President can do in Washington D.C. that he cannot do on Air Force One. And if he'd arrived right in the middle of all that chaos, what would you expect him to do? Run into the flames and drag people out himself?

Besides, at about 6:00 pm, he was in Washington.

There is a way to keep them honest. A recall provision in every state that cares to ensure its correct representation in Congress.

A six-week recall provision to go on the ballot. It designates a number of verifiable signatures, say, tens of thousands NOT millions to fire (recall) a rep and a new election for a replacement (no governor's appointment BS).

This would have worked immediately in the shamnesty debacle by initiating the process as soon as we smelled it's coming to the floor of the Senate. We would have recalled Graham, Kyl, McCain, Specter, Martinez, Hagel, Voinovich, etc. That would have made their absence a NO vote on cloture, period.

I believe liberals and Conservatives can agree on including a recall provision on the ballot because each side has their criteria for hiring and firing critters! LOL

Chaos indeed. By early afternoon downtown DC was an armed camp. The chaos was at the Pentagon, where people were dying. Rummy, not one of my favorite guys, personally ran to the impact zone and helped carry wounded out until dragged away by staff and security.

And what one thing the President can do in times of crisis from Washington that he can’t do from a bunker at an AFB. He can appear Presidential and reassure the country. Lincoln was in DC during the Civil War, surrounded by assassination plotters. It’s not unreasonable to expect the President to exhibit leadership.

I’m not asking for courage in this case, since I don’t think he was in any danger that day. How exactly would you attack the POTUS after all planes are grounded, traffic barred from core of DC, and all Law Enforcement on hair trigger alert.

This was a defining historic moment and I have heard it from many people over the years that his decision to fly around all day made him look indecisive.

I knew what the hell was going on that day, because I was in NYC watching the towers fall. I knew what was going on in Washington because my family was there. I did everything possible that day to get back home - at one point I contemplated buying a car to drive back since there were no rental cars, flights, or available train tickets. I was back home before Bush made his speech, despite having to hire a car service to take me to Hartford, then find a limo driver that would take me and two employees back to the DC area that day.

Many people rightfully panicked that day, many stood tall and did heroic things. W’s performance stands out as mediocre. How do you explain the position we find ourselves in today as a party? Denial gets you nowhere.

I’m sorry that you were touched personally by that horrific day but it is not an excuse to act like the president is a regular citizen during a national disaster. There are rules in place and whether or not he wanted to return to washington dc is irrelevant. IT WAS NOT HIS CALL! That was decided the minute he took the oath of office. To pretend otherwise or fault him in that regard is play on the level of the Kos crowd.

He can appear Presidential and reassure the country.

But he did that at about 6:30 pm that evening from the Oval Office. Do you know of a time that would have produced better results?

I don’t think he was in any danger that day. How exactly would you attack the POTUS after all planes are grounded, traffic barred from core of DC, and all Law Enforcement on hair trigger alert.

Just because planes were used to attack that day doesn't mean that other weapons could not have been used. Furthermore, even though planes were grounded, not all of them were yet on the ground. Stopping traffic in DC would be totally useless, if one of those planes that was still in the air was headed for the White House.

I have heard it from many people over the years that his decision to fly around all day made him look indecisive.

Obviously people who don't have a frickin' clue. Besides, he wasn't just "flying around all day". He was on his way back to DC from Nebraska about 3:30 that afternoon and arrived there about 6:00.

Please cite the rules that you speak of specifically. And don’t claim they exist, show may they exist.

And continuing to throw me in with Kos and Michael Moore is not relevant. I’ll work with the facts if you’ll provide them.
