Scientists Able To Reverse Autism and Mental Retardation in Mice by Inhibiting an Enzyme

Background News

"This is very exciting because it suggests that PAK inhibitors could be used for therapeutic purposes to reverse already established mental impairments in Fragile X children."

FOUNDING EDITOR'S NOTE [Breaking Christian News]: We don't often post fulfillments of prophetic words. But some words are so very specific, and the fulfillment may also be specific, that to NOT post [it], would be a disservice to our readers. Kim Clement spoke of Autism in a word we posted on December 23rd from a December 8th session given in Portland, Oregon. We've included the portions of Kim's word—specific to autism—below. You can read the whole word in its entirety by CLICKING HERE.

Part of Kim's word also mentioned "corruption in the pharmaceutical" areas. After recently publishing a story about the connection between the mercury found in childhood vaccines and Autism, we felt this may be what the word was about. We've also included a link to that news story below that paragraph. –Steve Shultz, BCN.

Excerpt from word given by way of Kim Clement—December 8th, 2006

"But because there has been corruption in the pharmaceutical regions and the political areas, they have held back some of these cures which could have taken place..." (BCN News article on vaccines and Autism)

"The Spirit of God says, 'There is a very unusual matter regarding the field of medicine, where they will not allow certain ideas regarding creativity, but once it happens, there will be a breakthrough in May or June of next year...I [the Lord God] already sent out cures where some great, great discovery shall take place, a neurological discovery that will bring those with certain disorders into a place of healing. Look to the autistic children.' For God says, 'Autistic children—if they survive and they come out of it, and the discovery is made, they shall be the geniuses of the world.'"

(Chicago-AFP)—New research from scientists at MIT—performed on modified lab-mice—has found that by inhibiting a certain enzyme that effects brain-cell connections, the brain damage found in children with Fragile-X syndrome (the most common genetic cause of Autism) could actually be un-done.

According to the AFP report, tests revealed that electrical communication between neurons in the brain was restored by the PAK-blocking action, and that abnormal behavior was also corrected.

Eric Klann, a professor at New York University's Center for Neural Science, remarked, "This is very exciting because it suggests that PAK inhibitors could be used for therapeutic purposes to reverse already established mental impairments in Fragile X children."

Mentally challenged mice are applauding these scientists.
BiPolar mice are awaiting their meds, and standing on their tails in anticipation. Cheese flavored prozac in a pet store near you.

Good question - don’t know if you asked it tongue-in-cheek, but my guess is the lab guys have isolated the genetic reason for and know how to create autism in lab mice and then they spend their time working backwards to try to find a cure.

To the jokesters posting on this thread, I suspect you haven't met or haven't been related to autistic children. It is agony to their families, and nothing to laugh about. I am tremendously excited at the potential written about in the article. It will be very much like Annie Sullivan teaching Helen Keller to spell out and understand and SAY the word, "Water" for the first time. And please, no Helen Keller jokes.

I asked it for both reasons, but how can you determine a mouse to be autistic?

My neighbor’s autistic child is arguably the most productive member of the household. Respectful and hard working.

The question is that are the Scientists able to develop a "magic pill" in order to cure autism and mental retardation?

Or is this more of genetic research that would only encourage further genetic engineering in the future?

Thank you. There is also a very promising treatment for Rett Syndrome, an autistic condition affecting girls only, described here:

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/02/070208230122.htm

It is like a miracle that the symptoms may be correctable and not permanent.

My son has Asperger’s, a relatively mild version of autism and it’s still heart-breaking. There seem to be a number of different genetic causes and I am so glad there is still hope. This summer he is going to try to get into a clinical trial involving oxytocin, but it doesn’t sound like a permanent fix.

Dump a bunch of toothpicks on the floor. If a mouse can count them all while they are falling he is autistic. If he can’t, then the mouse is not autistic.

I am the mother of an autistic child. I won’t bore you all with the gory details but life has been less then perfect and for the most part I don’t know how my family has made it this far.

From tantrums to fecal smearing our patience has been tried - if this in fact, is possible I will be in line first with my son for the reversal.

Autism does not know party or race - it is an equal opportunity anomaly.
