I’ll defer to your superior insight...

"NAZIS"

Alright, 'we' finally made it - 'Un-American', 'Bigots', 'racists', 'natavists', 'troglodytes- - all peanuts. We're NAZIS!

'We' finally hit the big time.

(but if I'm a NAZI I want to know where to go to get that cool black uniform. it was a chick magnet in the 1930s)

As a Kansan, I’m very sure why I’ll never vote for him again.

Absurd.

George W Bush is so far above Brownback it’s meanspirited and dumb to claim that they’re the same.

Bush isn’t trying to be loved. His governance against the polls proves that. If he’s fer somethin’ or agin somethin’ and if he’s right or if he’s wrong he pretty much (with a bit of edged nuancing) stays right there. He doesn’t care if Europe hates him. If the Dems hate him. If the media hates him. If his base hates him, etc. he STILL goes where he thinks he should go with something and he knows his own mind, right or wrong.

Poor Senator Brownback is terribly confused. There’s no comparison.

But I see you’re a star on the Bush hate threads so no surprise here.

Yes, he’s mistaken on illegal immigration but he’s held these views for years and has made them no secret. But that just goes to prove against what you said about him. And it doesn’t cause me to join the nastily rhetorical Bush bashers who’ve nothing but dripping disdain for anything about the man.

He’s done some fine work and he’s a decent man. Nobody’s perfect and that goes for anybody YOU’VE ever hitched your wagon to as well.

I didn't say they were the same. I'm merely pointing out that Brownback's failed candidacy and Bush's failed presidency are both grounded in "compassionate conservatism." Emotion trumps logic, enabling them to advocate for open borders, amnesty, bigger government, and anything Ted Kennedy wants (amnesty, bloated Education Dep't, and prescription drugs welfare for seniors) and decry their opponents as "mean-spirited" and "dumb." Funny how you used the same terms in your post. Must be a scamnesty supporter.

I'm not expecting perfection. I am expecting that a President who depended on conservatives to get him into office twice not sell us down the river trying to build a liberal legacy under the guise of compassionate conservatism.

The war against terrorism doesn't give President Bush a free pass to act like a liberal on everything else. Transplanting Kennebunkport to Texas and giving it a twang doesn't turn a RINO into a Longhorn.

Those two morons supported something they would never have to live with. They are part of the problem, the elite who know what’s good for the American people more so than do the people.
Once I saw the arrogance of Fred Barnes the Weekly Standard wasn’t renewed for my home.
Fred and Mort exemplify the left lean that is running through Fox News.

I don’t think Fred is “left”. He’s just a Washington insider who doesn’t get it.

Mort is a center right Democrat who agrees with Fred a lot of the time on a more conservative bent. He doesn’t get it either. If you look at them, or anyone, issue by issue by issue, you come away more clear on them than to label them “left”. If you decide that anyone who wants a more loose approach to the illegal immigration mess is “left” not only on that but “left”, period, you get a skewed read.

I can’t believe I’m quoting Sean, but one thing he said (and he’s been a lion on the borders issue whatever else you can say), is that this one issue isn’t as much left or right as it is right or wrong.

Is there a touch of liberalism in it on the wrong side, yes. But some of these people really believe that most of the illegal immigrants are overall good for America, for business, for the economy, even for the social and political future of America and that Repubs or conservs should be more on their side (not totally, but not totally against all of them, either). They might be wrong but they don’t see themselves as “left” and that doesn’t make them “left” in general.

Sorry to go on so long.

I’ve wathched Fred and Mort for years. Over the long term they track left on social issues.
Immigration isn’t the only issue that defines them.

This has got me thinking. If someone campaigns saying “I voted against such and such” how do we know they didn’t change their vote like Brownback did. Is there a source to look it up without spending hours of time?

No, you have to spend the time. And the switched votes are hard to spot if they aren't on votes as closely watched as the Amnesty bill. BUT, when you catch the bums in a switched vote they are in the Kerry "I voted for it before I voted against it" camp, and it makes them look bad.

Are you starting a “GOPFunnies” set of threads?

It wouldn’t be as frequent or as spooky as the famous DUmmie Funnies, but there is some potential, as this article shows.
