Oh heck, I like Fred. He is probably the best candidate for the Republicans, once you factor in positions + electability. He strikes the happy medium, though he does not mirror all of my views, esp on size and intrusiveness of government.

There really isn’t much to not like about Fred.

It seems to me that voters, especially those who drafted Thompson, are not looking for just another hardcore partisan willing to pander to voters down party talking points, but instead a hardcore American leader with an unapologetic mind of his own.

I’m 47 and have yet to see a candidate that parrots all of my views. I’ve heard every promise under the sun and seen nearly every promise ever made broken.

I can’t speak for anyone else, but I’m not looking for a mirror image of myself. I’m looking for a solid American leader who generally believes in the same fundamental American principles that I do, who is willing to represent me by holding firm to those values.

I don’t need to agree with every policy decision or position. I didn’t agree with Reagan 100%. I need to believe in the man, his backbone, his foundational beliefs and his reasons for wanting to lead this nation.

So far, I look at the field and have more confidence in Fred than any other. If Fred comes out as Fred and not some polished committee mouthpiece, my confidence in him will grow.

If he becomes just another partisan mouthpiece, it will be back to the drawing board.

I suspect many would agree...
