Thanks for the ping mhking, here’s a bump.
I knew the attacks on Thompson were coming - from the left and from the people who think they know better. How did you prepare for the attacks that you knew were coming?
Thanks for the correction, shouldn’t have posted on the fly.
Here are some of the facts that everyone needs to know about Thompson (comment #17, “Fred or Duncan” thread).

...and about some of Thompson’s most outspoken supporters here and after in the thread.

LOL... who’s Viguerie backing anyway... Ron Paul... Gilmore?
Where does he stand on free trade with China?
I had this mental vision of the Marquis of Carabas (Puss in Boots) blasting away at Barbary Pirates with a large naval gun . . .
Do you really think Thompson would support abortion remaining legal if Roe was overturned while he was President?
We KNOW Giuliani and Hillary would. But, neither would appoint judges to overturn Roe to begin with.
Thanks for the ping! I appreciate someone thinking of me.
Why am I here?
Just give me my marching orders. Tell me which side of the debate I should be on and I’ll slaughter them all :-)
Am I for Fred or against Fred?
lmao
What, no dirt on me?
Colour me offended.
You do Rep. Hunter a disservice with your insunuations that Thompson supporters are out to censor anyone who disagrees with them. I certainly am not. I just protest, mayhap too loudly at times, when folks post inaccurate information.
McCain Feingold is enough to disqualify Thompson in my opinion. It shows that Fred Thompson disregarded his SWORN OATH to Protect and Defend the Constitution of the United States of America.
LOL.
Why is it that Thompson backers treat Mitt's backtracking as if it were an unforgivable sin, and yet they give Fred a pass for the same thing?
That said, this part of Viguerie's column did bother me:
Thompson, it is said, was the person who got Senator Baker to ask a Nixon aide: What did the President know, and when did he know it? The reply led to the discovery of the Nixon tapes, and that led to Nixons resignation.
That's horse manure.
That's what people said about GWB, who (other than his SCOTUS appointments) has been a disaster for conservatism and the Republican Party, which has taken the blame for GWB's largely liberal policies.
In reality, Arlen Specter is one of the most vocally pro-abortion Senators in the nation, and has said so himself many times that his prime objective is to "protect a woman's right to choose".
************
Your wish is my command.
Arlen Specter on Abortion
Voted NO on $100M to reduce teen pregnancy by education & contraceptives. (Mar 2005)
Voted YES on criminal penalty for harming unborn fetus during other crime. (Mar 2004)
Voted YES on banning partial birth abortions except for maternal life. (Mar 2003)
Voted NO on maintaining ban on Military Base Abortions. (Jun 2000)
Voted YES on banning partial birth abortions. (Oct 1999)
Voted NO on banning human cloning. (Feb 1998)
Rated 21% by NARAL, indicating a pro-life voting record. (Dec 2003)
Expand embryonic stem cell research. (Jun 2004)
I'm seeing a mixed voting record here with regard to abortion. I'm also seeing a 21% rating by NARAL. How does NARAL rate a voting record? Is any lack of support for abortion grounds for a "pro-life" rating? It seems to me that NARAL is aggressively pro-abortion.
If it is your contention that "On the Issues" is a flawed resource, where are they wrong about Thompson's voting record?
Thanks for the ping. Thompson’s uninspiring. I hope the Law-and-Order-bots don’t take over FR anytime soon.
We’re here. Resitance is futile, etc etc.
I don’t know who to believe anymore.
