Republican presidential candidate John McCain accepted the resignations of two of his top aides today in a stunning shakeup of a campaign that has been roiled by financial and political problems.

Campaign manager Terry Nelson and chief strategist John Weaver issued terse statements announcing their departures from the McCain camp, which reportedly came after the candidate erupted after concluding that his top-level advisers had mismanaged the operation.

An angry McCain reportedly confronted Weaver and Nelson about the campaign's operations, particularly the amount of money that was being spent even when it was clear funds were tight. The final confrontation, coming after McCain returned from a visit to Iraq over the weekend, ultimately led to their departures, according to sources......."

McCain is beginning to realize he is toast and predictably he is blaming others. If he drops out it will be interesting to see who benifits most.

Mitt Romney will be the next to fall all to little pieces.

Mitt Romney will be the next to fall all to little pieces.

Is there any basis to believe that Romney has a temper problem or that his campaign, admittedly not surging, is in freefall the way McCain is?

Is there any kind of basis like this for your remark or is it just that you are backing another horse and think it useful to take cheap shots at other candidates?

I guess the illegal aliens aren't coughing up the campaign cash for McCain, didn't see that one coming.

I will take that bet. Romney has a ton of cash and will last a VERY long time...maybe even into the White House.

McCain supporters will split between 3 people Thompson, Guiliani, and Romney. More likely Romney and Rudy but Fred will get some of the action.

In interview Bettencourt explains switch from McCain to Romney

"It was known for a quite a long time that while I believe McCain is an American hero, I was very upset over his position on immigration," said Bettencourt in his first interview on the situation. "I have a lot of respect for Senator McCain and I wish his campaign well. I just thought Mitt was a better candidate."

Yes. My basis is the man himself, Mitt Romney, that great cloud of hot, stinky gas, who, when the voters examine him closely, will simply fade away. It will be as if he never existed on the national scene. He will be the Lamar Alexander of this decade, only not quite so charming and intelligent as the original loser. And this is not a cheap shot. It is the painful truth. If you are a Romney supporter you are advised to consider other options.

I don’t know.

In a kingdom of the half assed, perhaps you need only be a complete ass to be the top dog...

And I am forced to admit that McCain has shocked me by his firm actions in becoming one.

Yeah, I guess they should resign. After all it’s kind of hard to spin his Gang of 14 treason, Amnesty Bill support, voting to give illegals social security, McCain-Feingold, Guantanamo gripes, etc., etc., etc.

That a faux "conservative" like Romney has enough cash to buy the WH is sad. That the WH is for sale is even sadder. If he wins the election I'll just stay in Canada a few more years and pray that there is a country left to return to when Romney and the RINO herd is through it.

Hmmm...sounds just like your typical Ron Paul supporter (ouch...I just had a vision of a tiny little jock strap appear in my head). I wonder...
