I have never seen anything like this grassroots swell for Thompson.

I just don't see the appeal either. He was a light-weight in the Senate. And he was a Senator. Senators tend to be talkers (professional bloviators) rather than doers and usually don't get elected to the White House. He chaired the CFR committee and helped write it, and it initially was named the McCain-Feingold-Thompson bill.

It seems the Freddiebots are projecting what they hope Thompson will be rather than what his background shows him to be.

I've listened to some of his speeches, but he seems to talk around the issues.

Amusing comments from the DUers who frequent MSNBC. I’d say the average IQ level is about 50 or 60.

Anyway, the issue isn’t whether the Mormon candidate needs some heavyweight Baptist endorsements. The issue is how good a candidate Mitt is, how much you can believe what he says, over against his record. I have no problems with a Mormon candidate as such. Over the years, most of the Mormon politicians I’ve seen on the national stage have been pretty conservative. But not all of them. There’s Harry Reid, for instance.

And, I’m sorry to say, Mitt has some real problems on the social issues that he just hasn’t satisfied me about. He just keeps talking platitudes and saying nothing, stuff like all monotheistic religions are the same. No, they are not the same. I don’t believe in the teachings of the LDS. That’s all right, as long as the guy squares with me. Then he’ll believe what he believes and I’ll believe what I believe and we’ll get along. But he doesn’t really square with me on this, or on other bottom line issues like abortion, gay marriage, and amnesty for illegals.

Fred has it in the bag before he announces.

Mitt is a Mormon. His Mormon beliefs will drive his ideology. Fred is a Christian. More people, thank God, relate to a Christian and want THAT ideology to be his driving belief; not Mormonism.

I love the primaries...the warmth and fellowship is so fuzzy.

only thing I know so far is..

I like Tanc

I like Hunter

I like the lucidity of Huckabee....yes...I said that.

I don’t support Romney or Rudi or Queeg

I think Thompson does have huge support. I would like to see him harden to the right.....this is not 1990.

We shall see.

One thing for sure....Thompson is the only one who really scares the media....a lot. They are terrified of him.

The ONLY reason the LEFT is pumping up Mitt is because like them he is more of a SOCIAL LIBERAL. They know Fred Thompson is a conservative. So, MSNBC will look under every rock and in every crevice trying to use the influence of others to detract from Fred’s conservative views and policies. Truly since when did MSNBC care about Baptists and what LIBERAL Baptist thought? Only since this one doesn’t endorse Fred!

Getting ahead of oneself, first one has to declare and receive somekind of perusal we are still a republic, not a monarch!

It may be a convergence of the right man, in the right place and at the right time.

That's exactly what it is. He's just who we need right now.
