This baby boomer listened to his fair share of loud music but I lost about 30% of my high frequency hearing to these..

The Day the Music Died (aging boomers battling hearing loss inflicted by too much rock music)

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!

Leftist hippies armed with bullhorns bleating "Hey! Hey! LBJ! How many kids did you kill today!!??" didn't help any, either!!!

But, the hearing problems of boomers will be nothing compared to the deafness of todays' kids from bass rumblers in their cars blasting crapola and vibrating their cars to junk. Where is the NYT's concern over that!!???

Robin Trower gave me tinnitus for a week one time in ‘87. Small club, 4 100-watt Marshall stacks all on 10, and I was about 10 feet away from him. Couldn’t hear the bass player, drummer, or singer.

Aaah, the memories....

Anyone ever see Blue Cheer at the Fillmore or the Avalon or in the park? Man, that was one loud band. You know, this hearing loss thing - given the choice I’d do it again the exact same way!

I remember it ...it was at the Fillmore East, we were six or seven rows back of center, and the band was Poco. Amplified pedal steel guitar, and my ears are still ringing.

It's all good though.

They’ll be able to recycle this story in a few years but it will be about hearing loss inflicted by too much use of mp3 players turned up too high. People are wrecking their ears with these things.

Balderdash.....

Those of us slightly older than boomers ane now experiencing diiminished hearing. It is the way of the world.

I have listened to very loud music, shot doves all afternoon with no earplugs, and flown full bore in an open cockpit...... I now have difficulty hearing some conversation, especially with background noise.

I have a close friend who is my age, has hearing aids, and led a sheltered life growing up and as a minister’s wife. She certainly did not fit the profile.....accept for being 65.

By the way, did you hear about the guy who came into his office each morning, unwrapped two condoms and put them over his ears?

When asked why, he said he didn’t want to get hearing AIDS.

Well, between rock concerts and 155mm howitzers, there's bound to be hearing loss. At least that's what my doctor tells me...

5.56mm

My Grandfather’s generation is suffering hearing loss from working in noisy factories and mills. Something future generations certainly won’t have to worry about.
