Hey, I am supposed to be asking the questions :> . At any rate, here is a diagram showing the Indo-European Branches of the Language Tree. Apparently, even English is considered Germanic, but hey, I am 1/2 Celtic Scottish and only 1/4 Austrian. So we did end up speaking a Germanic language after all thanks to all those Angles, Saxons and Normans. Link to Indo-European Language Tree

Of course English is partially a Germanic language, just as it’s partially Latin, but when did we ever vote?

While on the topic of being nit-picky (Germanic as opposed to German—what the poster obviously intended to use), the Normans brought French (a Romance language) into English.
