Putin is a fascist, and must be treated as one: no appeasement, no backing down. Fascists fear strength and loathe weakness. Announce that we have decided not to redeploy as many forces out of Europe, go ahead with the Poland and Czech radar sites, add more sites in the Balkans. These can be used to pressure Russia going forward. The establishment of Putin’s own “Hitler youth” movement seals the deal. Russia IMO is a principle architect of the Islamo-fascist movement, just as it was during the Cold War, using the Nazi ideology prevalent in Islamic discourse to its own advantage. I say this because without Russia support, supply and training of these movements they would cease to exist as a threat to the West going forward. Russia is using the Islamo-fascist movement as an extension of its own foreign policy. I also believe autocratic Russia, with its massive foreign espionage program, contributes greatly to the so-called “anti-war” movement in this country. How they do this is obscure, but I imagine it has to do with infiltration and manipulation of ANSWER and other similar organizations, the MSM and certain figures in the blogosphere and Hollywood. IMO the Bush-Putin Maine Summit was intended by Bush as a last look at Putin to determine whether he was enemy or friend. IMO Bush decided he is an enemy and will proceed appropriately. This will eventually lead to the bombing of Iran, and a more aggressive military posture in Europe. As well, the first steps to the establishment of a worldwide “Democracy Organization” to marginalize China and Russia going forward. The increasingly aggressive posture of socialist governments in Latin America seems illogical unless supported by powerful allies. This is the Russian version of “soft power”, absent a predominant military. That can come later, and quickly, once the economy is sufficiently revived.

Actually, Russia had the largest defense budget to date this year (to inflation) since World War II.

Putin is still officially a member of the Soviet Communist Party, and its successor, the KPRF. We are dealing with a Marxist-Leninist with an image team and a makeover.

Russia’s hawks want this as the “heaven manna”. They beleive in America aggresiveness. And now you will give them a prove.
IMO what you say will bring all us to the limited nuclier war in Europe which may end the history of Poland and few other new members of NATO.
