To: Dave Olson

Those elections may of turned out the way they did but there was a lot of other close ones that went the wrong way. The GOP acted like it was in to long and lost it’s bearings and the war was also highly unpopular. I think this board is simply not facing reality and it is going to bite them big time.

I remember the 60's and 70's, the massive marches on college campuses, the riots in the streets, cities burning..., over the Vietnam War. George McGovern tried to tap into that anger and ran for president on an anti-war platform in 1972. Given all that, one would have thought he'd win in a landslide. Reality: he lost every state but one.

In spite of the war's unpopularity, there just isn't the anger there used to be, other than from the far left. What few anti-war protests we're seeing are, by historic standards, rather pathetic.

Dims may be trying to cultivate that anger. But IMHO, if they push it too far, they'll end up in the same place that McGovern did. And considering their presidential candidate field is kissing up to the loons at Kos, that's exactly where they're going.
