Earlier in the program (I saw the same rerun) he made a comment to the effect that political ‘hate’ speech posed a direct threat to politicians and (gasp) journalists, and that there should be laws protecting them....

My (mental) comment was “Bill, there’s no immediate direct threat to you, personally... We can wait until we gather all of you up..”

Further confirming my opinion that he’s mentally deficient.

There are laws against threats. What the bloody hell is he talking about?

Now, if I say that I wouldn’t mind seeing O’Reilly captured by pygmies, skinned alive, and dumped screaming into boiling salt water...well, that’s protected speech. Any call for direct action would be a threat. Right Ann Coulter? heh

It wasn’t all that long ago that some congresscritters were proposing that lawyer jokes be ruled hate speech.
