Congress has the power of the purse. Pelosi and Reid could have fixed this earlier this year if they had wanted to. It’s their fault.

I was reading a book recently about the building of the Brooklyn Bridge.
One of the more interesting factoids was that in the first half of the 19th century about one in four of the bridges built in the US fell down.

During the 1990s the Democrats, Republicans and Independents of this state funneled over $1 billion of state and federal transportation dollars into a Light Rail line from down town Minneapolis to the Airport. This billion dollar boondoggle desired to make it easier for fat cats to get too and from their offices and the airport has it terminal about 1 mile from where this bridge collapsed.
This isn’t about lacking fiscal resources, it about the grotesque failure of the govt at all levels to allocate recourses with any sort of prudence.
um...wasn’t the bridge undergoing maintenance and repairs when it collapsed?
