Parade will honor troops
TIGARD -- Tigard's Home-Again Parade on Saturday will honor the troops of the Oregon Army National Guard's 41st Brigade, who returned from Afghanistan in May and June.
More than 2,000 people are expected to greet the 900 soldiers of the Tigard-based 41st who served in Afghanistan. The deployment was the largest of Oregon troops since World War II. The unit's mission was to train the Afghan army and police.
The parade, starting at 10 a.m., will travel down Southwest Durham Road, between Southwest 113th and 92nd avenues, and will be followed by the official demobilization ceremony for the soldiers at Tigard High School's football stadium. Food, music and family activities will be available in Cook Park all afternoon. -- Andy Bruner
America’s Patriots salute the troops of Oregon Army National Guard’s 41st Brigade!
I lived in Tigard for 18 years and coached football for 15 of those years. When I moved there, the city only had 7,000 people. Today it has about 35,000 people. Everyone knows where the football field is since it is one of those small towns that lives and breathes football.
Glad to see they support our troops. Go Tigard Tigers.
I wanted to attend this but unfortunattly we had to do a breakfast at our american Legion Post. I hear there a troop support parade comming up soon in Depot bay but I’m not sure when.
And Oregon college students will spit on them and burn uniforms in protest.
