It was fun to watch! All the older children had long lists of chores and there didn't seem to be any whining. They were busy but didn't seem hassled. The older kids were helping build a great big new house with dormitory. The camera came along to the shopping trips, the meal plans, the food preparation, the domestic infrastructure that made their lives not only comfortable, but fun.
That they managed on one man's upper-middle income salary was amazing.
More power to them. But, no, not for me!

His worldview can’t envision the possibility of 17 well-behaved children who are raised traditionally to respect God, their parents, and proper authority. He can only see 17 hellions disrupting the neighborhood. It speaks more to his sad sick limited view than the possible reality. Children, especially large numbers of them, would HAVE to be hellions-in his “progressive” view-he has no idea of another way of child-rearing, other than the permissive liberal one.

Overpopulation is bunk when applied to the United States or any other civilized country. The first world is declining while third worlders breed like rabbits, that is the problem.

People who never leave the cities have the impression that everywhere is the same as where they live. They have no concept of a place without streetlights or driving for hours without seeing another car.

I know. Whenever I get in an argument with a lib over such, things, my next line is, well in a way you’re right, I don’t think the taxpayer should be paying for people’s education at all. I think if they have kids they should pay for it themselves, or homeschool. Why should I pay for someone else’s kids at all?

The author has the perception that procreating is related to f******. The concept of making love is quite different and THAT is what the Duggars are doing.
If they aren’t begging in the street, or telling everyone around them sad “poor me” stories to everyone around them, then who cares if they are “sponging” as you say.
