PHELPS FAMILY TO PROTEST FUNERALS OF VICTIMS OF THE MN 35W BRIDGE COLLAPSE

Posted on 08/05/2007 11:18:36 AM PDT by Brynn2007

I am writing about an issue that concerns me greatly. I reside in Southern MN and, like everyone in this area, was shocked and saddened by the recent tragedy that has occurred in Minneapolis. The Phelps Family of the Westboro Baptist Church (or "WBC") in Topeka, KS, the same who picketed funerals of fallen soldiers back from Iraq, plans to picket the funerals of the victims of the bridge collapse. I am severely outraged at this disrespectful display of hate, and I am certain that others would feel the same way were they to know of these plans. I am telling you this in hopes that this will be made public, and that others will be inspired to take legal and respectful action to deter any additional trauma to the families of these victims. Below is a link where you may find the flier that advertises the intentions of the "WBC" to protest and preach at the funerals of these innocent people.

Oh, Lord...

What can I do but to pray as any good Christian and Zero Wing geek should...?

...FOR GREAT JUSTICE.

WBC of Topeka is a non-prophet organization.

The more we are able to isolate and ignore this fringe group -- the sooner they will fade back into the woodwork.

Perhaps contact your local/state Patriot Guard Riders -- they may be willing to mount up a mission to run interference against the ugggs...

Justa thought.... MHO...

Governor Pawlenty should pre-emptively announce that he will pardon anybody who attacks these subhumans.

No need for pardons, just find them guilty of a civil infraction, like a parking ticket, fine them a huge amount like five dollars, and justice is served.

I have always considered this the proper way to treat someone who attacks a flag burner.

My only restriction is the punch can not do any permanent physical damage or break any bones...

Do we have any information as to when and where these funerals will be held so we can go and defend the families from these nuts?

No offense to you, but why would ANYBODY pay the slightest attention to these fringe kooks?
Wasn't this "Phelps Family of the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, Kansas" nothing more that a sneaky Democrat political operation to try to smear Christianity? Although there may have been some impact from the soundbites early on, these crackpots have long since "jumped the shark". Time to forget about them.

It is my opinion that the Phelps are raving Leftists, pretending to be evangelicals

I agree. I'm curious where they get the funding to travel as much as they do.

Can’t the Baptist doing something about removing the name from this group (Westboro Baptist Church)WBC or sue them?

The people of Minneapolis and elsewhere should chip in for buses and at a distance, make a human wall around the funeral site.

Ditchable hat pins acceptable to take care of anyone attempting to crash through the tight cordon.

The Westboro cult is evil. They see malice where other people see only genuine tragedy. And the way they exploit human suffering is reprehensible and an affront to the conscience.

I’d make it my entire job to defend people who beat up the Phelps family

LOL, you sure it would take a lawyer? I'm thinking the judge would find any way possible to ensure the accused got off. And no jury in their right mind would convict you.

This falls under the old Southern 'he needed killin' law...I heard of a judge one time overseeing a trial of an upstanding citizen in the town that had been caught beating up a ne'er do well. The judge basically stopped the trial and said in open court the ne'er do well shouldn't have done what he did and if he was going to do that, he should stay out of the way of swinging baseball bats. The accused got a $100 fine and 3 day suspended sentence for beating the guy up.

The Interfaith service will be held tonight at 7pm at St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral just off of Loring Park downtown. I’m going to wander over there to see if there’s anything I can do to help keep these nuts away, if they show up.

No, they are not. They have a pet sin (Homosexuality) and it has so twisted them as to not be recognizable as Christians. You should love your enemy, if they were equal opportunity haters they would own websites for every sin...

Everyone has a pet sin, one which they view as being more an offense to God than any other. People should refrain from tackling this sin with others. If, for you, its homosexuality then when you witness to a homosexual talk to them about the fact a single lie is enough to damn you to hell.

The authorities should tell the protester-provocatours that the police will not be there to protect them.

See how brave they are- and if God will protect them.

Maybe we can get them to test a 200 foot bungie cord from a 100 foot bridge?

If the media would just stop covering them they would go away...and that would be a VERY good thing.

Isn’t Minnesota a very liberal state? The Phelps AntiChrist-ian family may have jumped the shark with the Left with this little stunt!
