About right.
So why not take a chance on Ron Paul? Even if you can't win, at least conservatives would feel good that they did the right thing by cleaning house. Besides, the last time a conservative got drubbed in a presidential election was Barry Goldwater in 1964. His loss did lead conservatives to their greatest win -- Ronald Reagan
Instead we need a mealy mouthed 'conservative' in there so when Bush the IVth comes along, we'll have someone else to claim is conservative when in fact they won't be. Rep. Paul is one of the last chances for what's left of the Republic. If the few here choose to try to drub him out of the party, it's perhaps because of their love of big government (advocated by all the rest..)
This explains where the paleopantywaist Internet support is coming from. Making mischief in the GOP is a new SDS issue so long a they can act anonymously and still vote for full bore Commie candidates in the caucuses and primaries.
It took only 16 years for us to go from Planned Barrenhood Goldwater to the election of Ronaldus Maximus, the driving of the libertoonian money changers from the GOP temple and eight years of sanity. Certainly, if we were stupid enough to nominate an antiwar antiAmerican loon like paleoPaulie, he would make Goldwater in 1964 look like a political powerhouse (a regular 1936 FDR). Does anyone think that the GOP would have to simply settle for a mere sixteen years (8 of Mrs. Arkansas Antichrist followed by 8 of Chelsea!!!) or that it would be more likely that the Clintons would have canceled the formality of elections by then????
