My parents moved from Rockport to north of Austin last summer. Thank goodness - my dad almost pulled a Nagin with Rita approaching in 2005 - he hadn’t made any plans to leave when the evacuation order was issued and with all the hotels in the east half of the state filled with Katrina refugees.
Actually the first thing I’m doing when I get down there is fill-up my tank - 450 mile capacity. So I can get out in time if necessary.
