Undocumented worker pays price for immigration policy
Chicago Sun-Times ^ | April 10, 2005 | Mark Brown

Teresa Figueroa still has the laminated posters from the two times she was named employee of the month at Micron Industries in Elmhurst. In the center of each poster is a photo of a smiling Figueroa being congratulated by Micron President Don Clark for her exemplary work gluing together electrical transformers on an assembly line.

Figueroa proudly showed me the awards Friday in the living room of the Melrose Park home she and her husband bought three years ago for $184,000. A Sharp color TV stands against one wall of the room, a shelf of DVDs below, a Compaq computer in one corner and an aquarium in the other, a typical American home in most every respect.

I know this is an old article, but it's relevant. I noticed this: http://www.govtrack.us/congress/bill.xpd?bill=h110-3451

That's right, a little personal amnesty bill! Proposed just two weeks ago. Heartwarming, isn't it? This woman is totally innocuous! I mean, we all know how forgiving the IRS is when they think you owe them a few grand. It's not like they seize your assets or anything like that.

The coalition is trying to find a member of Congress to sponsor a private immigration bill to allow her to remain here. Figueroa could be ordered deported as early as April 29, when she next goes before an immigration judge.”

Not only did this woman violate our immigration laws she is a felon who stole a citizens identity. I feel no sympathy for her whatsoever and hope she is deported and her house/property auctioned. The liberal weenies who want her to get amnesty should be ashamed. We don’t need fraud artists who impersonate citizens in this country.

The New York Times reported last week that illegal immigrants workers are providing a subsidy of up to $7 billion a year to our Social Security system -- money they are paying in through false Social Security numbers for which they will never receive benefits, just one measure of how such "criminals" contribute to our society.

Hogwash. If you think for one minute that these people won't sue for those benefits and that the ACLU won't back them up, you're crazy.

Smuggled herself into this country. Stole someones identity thereby screwing them with an IRS bill, not to mention whatever other credit issues this instance of identity theft has caused. The article makes her sound like Mother Theresa. Punish her appropriately. Deport her.

“Undocumented worker” is a fake term made up by idiot liberals.

They broke into the country illegally.

An they are foreign aliens.

Illegal + aliens= Illegal aliens

just like 2 +2=4

By liberal logic, a rapist that is on the loose is an “undocumented violator of innocence”, and you are a racist if you say otherwise.

What’s the big deal with a little harmless ID theft? She’s just a sweet ol’ lady who didn’t know she was doing wrong. After all, she was watching the Pope just the other night...

From here on I will officially call all of the illegal, under the table money I earn “Undocumented income” which is “hiding in the shadows”. Of course, I expect that money to be free for me to use as I please without ANY restrictions in order for that money to be freed from those awful “shadows”.

I just love the Liberal word games.

Since this article is 2-1/2 years old, anyone know what was the final outcome, if any?

The status nearest their actual situation is "undocumented tourist". And tourists, as you know, can't hold jobs here, nor get instate tuition, or get a driver's license, etc. Best of all, if they have any babies, the babies don't become US citizens.

Since a tourist can frequently come here without a visa, the fact that none of these people have a visa, or that they had one which expired, doesn't mean they should be treated as anything other than tourists.

While I'm all for tourism, I think after they've spent their money and had their fun they should GO BACK HOME.

No doubt, she got a loan to buy her house using the false SSN. Who is left holding the bag when the mortgage holder forecloses? No wonder we have a sub prime credit crisis! If all the illegals were deported there will be a massive collapse of the credit market due to the foreclosures. The banks started to make these risky loans to illegals in 2003, based on TIN numbers not SSN numbers. Now we are paying the price.

“Teresa Figueroa would have made a good American, if only ....”

She had obeyed the laws of America, had not lied and tried to deceive America, if only she had not broken in to our America, brought others in to America illegally.

There are many that would have been good Americans, if they had only been good Americans.

The message that is being sent by many in America is that you don’t have to obey the laws that “YOU” don’t like. So many of those people that want protection of the law, and want more and more laws believe that nevertheless the laws don’t apply to them. Even those in government pick and choose which laws to enforce and who to enforce them against. The break-down of America continues from within. Maybe Kruschev was on to something about being destroyed from within.

Even if that figure is true, which I doubt, it is a paltry amount compared to the true cost of illegals, schools, emergency rooms,non-insurance accidents etc. On the other hand if they are made legal we have to pay that also and they pay only sales tax for the most part.

Given the text of her personal citizenship bill:
“Adjustment of Status.—If Teresa Figueroa enters the United States before the filing deadline specified in subsection (c),”

Since it says “if enters the US”, I’m assuming that means she’s not here now.

Yet, at the same time, I can't help but think that we contributed to Figueroa's entering this life of crime -- a life now being led by perhaps 10 million undocumented workers in America -- by our national failure to come up with sensible, comprehensive immigration policies that recognize the economic and social realities.

Barf alert!
