Can’t even justify why he was hung,

Should have paid attention during his trial. This is why.

ok i get it, the deal with the kurds.. but why are they everyones problem? from what i’ve read, they tried to take his life, so he hit them hard.

now Iran and turkey also for some reason are getting some troops massed. They tend to piss off more than one at a time.

What gets me though, is the whole ease of this. when bush said mission accomplished (and no, i am not mocking cuz at the time it seemed so) the only army they took down were people with sandals and fn pacman t-shirts.

Does anyone EVER think saddam saw this coming? He surely had advance notice, bush made it clear as with the UN inspectors that they were on the way.

The whole initial ease of it all seemed too easy. i have a gut feeling the b*stard has booby trapped the place.

AAC those are good pics, but not quite relevant to the question. For they are of the gassings at Halajba, in Kurdistan, and Sadaam was never tried for that. Nor was he considered a dangerous tyrant by the Western powers when that happened. No one mentioned Kurdistan at the trial, because Sadaam threatened to come out with a few choice details about who was giving him support.

The Kurdish survivors at Halajba (sp?) are so disgusted with the current situation in Iraq that they recently destroyed a museum to honor those that died in the gas attack.

Sadaam was hanged because of the deaths of about 120 Shia villagers in reprisals for an assassination attempt against him. This particular incident was certainly not the most severe of his dictatorship, and he was able to present evidence that he and his convoy had been attacked, and that the attackers were probably Iranian backed (well, of course).

The real reason he was hanged, as they reminded him on the scaffold, was because Moqtada As-Sadr had it in for him. And quite justifiably so, as he had executed Moqtada’s relatives. It is a Middle Eastern blood feud. Sadaam knew the score and was just fatalistic about it. There was no fear or surprise on his face on the scaffold.
