I saw a report that Vick stands to lose over $100 million in endorsements and future opportunities because of this. If nothing else, hopefully this will convince young, newly rich performers and athletes that “keeping it real” doesn’t have to mean “keeping it real dumb”, as Chris Rock puts it. A short, brutal life for those poor dogs and millions down the drain for Vick.

I have a bit of difficulty understanding the motivation of the folks, such as yourself, who come onto these Vick threads to remind us that animals are no more than chattel, that they have no rights, and that folks who are supremely pissed at the likes of Vick are victims of a PETA like mindset as a result of the 1960’s subversive counterculture.

What?

I say we can certainly have dominion over the beasts in the field without turning them on each other for sport, doncha think? Even this humble commentator, a self-avowed agnostic, has no trouble feeling the smugness of moral superiority over a guy who himself participates in the killing of “underperforming” pit bulls.

But you seem intent on calling out the “good guys”, simply to make your Biblical point that animals are just that, and somehow not worthy of being the cause of the moral indignation so many are feeling towards Vick.

But you’ll probably just call me slow and stupid. I’d suggest pointing your Biblical study group to a different topic. This one is not a winner for you.

I knew you were full of stupid and trick questions. It's not equal. Nobody ever said it was. But, you're desperate and want to put words into peoples mouthes. Change the point and context to save thyself.
Animals are to be taken 'care of' (dominion) by us.....and if you can't see how what Vick did is wrong....then something's wrong with your thinking. Do you think Jesus would of picked up the smaller goat and slammed it's head against the wall or slammed its head with a stone.....simply because it was the smaller goat? And don't tell me Yes. Jesus had compassion. It's nice to know that Bosco would though......because Boscos a human.

“Electrocuting dogs, etc. is EVIL.”

Is it EVIL to electrocute people?

Is it EVIL to kill a cow by hitting it in the head really hard and then hacking it up for food?

What’s the over/under on the number of days until he has a Raider contract? Al Davis isn’t picky.

"2.I understand why dog fighting and gambling are illegal, but in my mind this isn’t exactly the crime of the century. I don’t understand the hatred towards Vick."

When someone has more money than they can spend in a lifetime - it is disgusting that person would choose to torture & promote the mutilation of God's innocents for their own amusement.

It may not be the crime of the century - but it's pretty close.

He said, "Through this situation I've found Jesus."

I'm glad for that.

I'd guarantee that if we check his family that they'll be Christian, active, and in active prayer for Vick.

He deserves the benefit of the doubt.

Let us hope that God is a God of 2nd (3rd) Chances.

(Peter says to Jesus, "Lord, should I forgive my brother 7 times? Jesus said, "...seven times seventy times...."

We all need a little grace and forgiveness.

(Except the perfect, beautiful people, of course.)

those dogs never had one nice day. the training is brutal, the fighting is brutal, their deaths were brutal. If they won they were trained more and fought more.

mr. vick doesn’t deserve another nice day in his life and i hope it ends in a similar manner his dogs did

He is not sorry or repentant.

He's sorry... that he got caught.

If I were Vick's agent, I'd be scrambling my ass off trying to keep $2.2 million from flying out of my checking account like a freed pigeon thanks to the ghetto antics of my half-retarded manchild client.

Why on earth should Vick's agent have to pay back his 10%? The agent helped Vick get the money; the agent didn't cause Vick to p!$$ it away.

I'm trying to unload this bridge in Brooklyn. This seems like a good thread to find a buyer!

(can't believe the credulity here)

He is obviously a sociopath or a psychopath who is in need of prolonged and intense psychiatric treatment. People who abuse animals like this inevitably progress to harming humans. Many turn out to be murderers, or serial murderers. This is one sick individual. A shrink would have more than a field day with this guy, he would have an entire book and material for a doctoral thesis.
_______________

Absolutely.
People who defend him or brush off what he did are thick in the head.
They do not seem to understand what kind of mentality is behind what Vick has been doing for YEARS.

Vick was involved in dogfighting as a child?
Do tell?

That's because he isn't IN prison yet. <

He deserves the benefit of the doubt.

I don't think he "deserves" anything. I think we should wait until we see some fruit in his walk. It's easy to say "I found Jesus" when you have idiots like Keith Olberman shilling for your quick return to the league. I think it might simply be a ploy to gain sympathy. Worse scoundrels than Vick have used that ploy. Let's see if we see some true repentance before we give him the benefit of the doubt.

BTW, I'm sure he'll meet "Jesus" in prison. There are plenty of them.

Depends. Did the person or cow knowingly commit a crime?

2 years in prison should help him grow up.
