DEBKAfile’s military sources report that Israel has not yet responded to the massive short- and long-range missile deliveries Iran has been sending Hizballah via Syria’s Latakia seaport, which defense minister Ehud Barak disclosed Monday, Aug. 27...

If I were in charge in Israel, Latakia would cease to exist as a seaport, and many critical buildings in Damascus would suddenly become, uhhh, structurally unsound.

Of course, if I were in charge in Israel no one would be messing with the country now - because Syria would have been devastated for doing just that last summer. THAT is how you avoid wars, by making sure that any potential enemy knows that not only won't he be successful, but that his country and powerbase would be destroyed. It is the same kind of deterrent effect you get which you leave a body hanging at the end of a noose for a couple of days.

Israel should have launched an invasion of Syria last summer while the terrorists were tied up with the IDF. I cannot believe that Ehud Barak who previous to Olmert was the worst PM of Israel ever is now defense minister.
