Idaho Senator Larry Craig obviously did a very bad thing in a men's restroom at the Minneapolis/St. Paul airport in June. Whatever took place between Senator Craig and an undercover police officer was bad enough that Senator Craig tried to hide it from everyone around him, public and private. It was bad enough that he pled guilty, hoping it would stay buried forever. There are many things about this affair that have made him politically radioactive, and fatally so. The press statement he gave to the media earlier Tuesday afternoon did not help make his predicament any less dire. In fact, it made it worse.
Senator Craig said very strongly that he did not do anything wrong, that he is not gay, and that he is not ruling out running for re-election next November. Here's what else Senator Craig has not done.
He has not estimated highly enough that his 'I shoulda hired a lawyer instead of trying to solve this myself' excuse doesn't fly with the American people.

Yes, I really love how he was regretting “mistakes”, which apparently was only that he didn’t hire a lawyer. Please. We don’t care whether or not you had a lawyer; we care whether you’re scum.

Now, let's be a little positive about it. For one, we finally caught a Republican Hypocrite (not easy to do), and now let's get rid off him!. The timing really does not hurt us... Nothing is really going on right now. And best of all, it gives us Social Conservatives at least and others who care, the chance to show WE ARE DIFFERENT from the Pervert Democrats.

Repeal the 17th Amendment now...Our Founders envisioned the Senate as the "upper house," of Congress, with the senators selected by the individual state legislators and accountable to the states they were there to represent.
Our Congress, loosely modeled on the British Parliament had its the Senate loosely styled on the House of Lords, and our House of Representatives loosely styled on the House of Commons. The 17th Amendment which allowed for the popular election of Senators has turned the Senate into nothing more than a glorified house of representatives with six year terms...They have the egos and arrogance of princes and the ethics and coarse manners of skid row whores. They enjoy all the benefits of the Noblesse without the responsibilities of the Oblige. They may argue that the "answer to the people," but the fact of the matter is, they only do so every six years...and furthermore, the founders never intended them to answer to the people, but rather to the States.
We have become Rome.
The GOP is a BIG TENT, what is everybody complaining about? Come on people get with it, the GOP is mainstream and middle of the road and everybody I mean everybody is welcome. (partial sarcasm)
Don Sherwood of PA thought that he could overcome the scandal of having a 6 year affair with a girl 36 years his junior. The GOP backed him. The voters didn’t and we now have a dem instead of a pubbie holding the seat.
Dems can get away with this behavior. Conservatives will not put up with it. He needs to go now. If not for bad behavior, then for extremely bad judgment. Is this the type of man that we want as a lawmaker?
I have to say, while I am disturbed by Craig’s conduct, I am inclined to agree that sooner or later there has to be a stand. Mark Levin read the actual statute at play and the police report. While a bit weired, I just don’t see how what Craig did compares to Patrick Kennedy driving drunk, or William Jefferson, or Murtha, or Studds, or Dirty Harry’s land deals, or (insert dem name here). By the way, wasn’t some dem from California recently arrested for assaulting an airport worker? Is that person going to resign? Is being a peeping Tom worse than assault?
What is going on here amounts to a soft coup. The democrats are attempting to make it illegal to be a Republican or Conservative while insulating themselves from corruption. They label conservative talk radio “hate speech” that must be regulated. They demand absolute perfection from anyone who preaches morality such that if someone screws up a micron, they must resign NOW!!! Meanwhile, if a dems is investigated or accused of corruption they demand that the investigators be investigated or they cry “politics!!” Voila, they are insulated and the Republicans own corruption.
Sooner or later it has to stop because you can bet the dems are going to go after every Republican for everything. They are seeking to take what they can’t win at the ballot box. As for Craig, what he really did wrong here (if he is innocent) is not defending himself. If I were him, I would try to withdraw the plea and fight it out.
Frankly, I can’t help but notice the double standard - the public schools have been promoting homosexuality for years; there are self professed Democrat homosexuals serving in Congress, but a Republican gets caught and he is expected to resign his office.
The Republicans must never sink to that level. Craig needs to go. Today.

Those are very good points and I understand. I am not sure that Craig will lose though. Either way, I just sick of the hypocrisy in the liberal MSM.
I so disagree with you. I will not continue to take part in the party purge being led by the liberal democrat MSM.
I can already see it now - Craig resigns and the NY Slimes writes a editorial saying that the GOP gov of Idaho should appoint a liberal or democrat for "balance" or some other BS reason.
Meanwhile, Sir Charles Schumer rewards himself for taking down another evil Republican.
The time has come and it is long over-due for payback. Chuck Schumer should be target number one. There is flaw in Schumer. Beneath his thin righteous skin hides a monstrous demon.
It is time to expose it.
