About Morris Dees from
“A GUIDE TO THE POLITICAL LEFT”
http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/default.asp
Skeptics charge that the now-famous trial lawyer is motivated less by a devotion to justice than a pursuit of profit.
Even leftist journalist Alexander Cockburn accused SPLC’s Morris Dees of raising funds by “frightening elderly liberals that the heirs of Adolf Hitler are about to march down Main Street.”
Morris Dees raised eyebrows in the 1990s when he told an interviewer, “I learned everything I know about hustling from the Baptist Church. Spending Sundays on those hard benches listening to the preacher pitch salvation — why, it was like getting a Ph.D. in selling.”
SPLC directors — having garnered $9 million in donations in a two-year fundraising campaign for the trial — afforded themselves salaries of $350,000 for the trial’s duration.
The Nation magazine lambasted the Center for spending nearly $6 million on fundraising activities but only $2.4 million on litigation.

Critics warn that the upsurge in activity - also being replicated among pro-immigrant groups - is evidence of a growing anti-immigrant sentiment sweeping the United States. Oh, I hope not. I'd like to think my fellow Americans are not anti-immigrant but, rather, vigorously anti-illegal alien.
Personally, if you come here as a legal immigrant, jump through the hoops, assimilate, learn English, etc. I'll welcome you with open arms.

While I am no fan of these wet-backs, how is this guy able to retire at 55??
The only people that I can think of that are able to retire that young are career military people & cops...

Gay has always meant happy and most Homosexuals don’t sound very happy with their situation these days.
Queer means odd and better fits groups that scream and march because they are unhappy.
Besides that, queer covers the carpet munchers without need of a special name for them.

Very interesting - bumping to read.

"But anti-illegal-immigrant groups say growing interest is a wider backlash against pro-immigrant street protests that swept the country last spring and frustration with federal officials whose immigration-reform bill has stalled."
Somehow I doubt the failure of McCain-Kennedy is the reason cited by anti-illegal-immigration groups.
Actually the street protests WERE a main reason for the reform bill failure.... IMHO

I saw a new one in an article today: refugee.
Some liberal professor is trying to give illegals refugee status. However, they don’t meet the definition - they are neither fleeing a war or religious or political persecution. They’re just too lazy to fix their own country and would rather come here for free handouts.

That's no reason to discount what this guy says. If one starts saving young and holds down expenses, it is doable. My huband and I are in our mid-40s and can retire in another 8 years if we keep saving at the same rate we have been, get a 5% return, and live economically. We don't have the RVs or pools with waterfalls that our neighbors have, only had as many kids as we could afford, and were otherwise fiscially responsible for decades. Health care will be the only issue....and likely a big enough one that we won't retire early.

work hard, save, invest and keep your cost of living low
Good concise summary. I am personally so sick of the rat race, of paying taxes to support illegals and others who have 4-8 children but can't afford them - I'd be happy to retire someplace rural, cheap, quiet, by a river or lake preferably - and do the Henry David Thoreau thing. I don't need 'things' to be happy -but I do need to get out of Mexifornia!
