It is with deep sadness that the MOD must confirm the death of a British soldier from the Parachute Regiment in Iraq on Wednesday 5 September 2007.
The soldier sustained fatal injuries in the early hours of Wednesday while conducting routine operations in support of ongoing Coalition activity in Iraq. Notification of the Serviceman's death has been withheld for operational security reasons.
You know, I once heard a British officer (NOT a general) say that the Brits HAD to engage in this war, if for no other reason than to keep up the readiness of their troops.
I think he recited the Dutch, whose attitude towards their troops, readiness, etc., reflect the fact that the Dutch haven't been at war in over 400 years.
There's something in that. Thanks for posting.
The BBC is suggesting that he was with Special Forces. Rest in Peace.
This story just goes to show that British troops are still fighting and dying alongside their US brothers in Iraq (and not just in the South where we still have 5500 troops).
RIP mate. We mourn your passing but honor your service.
yeah i reckon SF. I haven’t heard much about the Para’s being in Iraq of late, so its makes sense. Para’s not part of Basra battlegroup anyhow.
